Continuous casting is short for continuous cast steel. In the process of producing all kinds of steel in iron and steel works, there are two methods of solidification by molten steel: traditional die casting method and continuous casting method. The continuous casting technology, which appeared in Europe and America in 1950s, is an advanced technology for directly casting molten steel. Compared with traditional methods, continuous casting technology has obvious advantages, such as greatly improving metal yield and slab quality, saving energy and so on.

The concrete flow of continuous casting steel is: molten steel continuously passes through a water-cooled crystallizer, solidifies into a hard shell, and then is continuously pulled out from the outlet below the crystallizer, cooled by water spray, completely solidified, and cut into billets.
