Experts comment on the China Pavilion of the Shanzhai World Expo.

Associate Professor Liu from the School of Intellectual Property of Xiangtan University said that according to the Copyright Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), original architectural works are works protected by law. Funing's act of setting up the "China Pavilion", even a sculpture, is a copy of the specific architectural works of the China Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo, which is suspected of copyright infringement.

Associate Professor Liu also said that according to the Patent Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), the aesthetic design of the China Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo can be the object of patent protection for design. Therefore, as long as the Shanghai World Expo Bureau applies for a design patent, and the China Pavilion in Funing Lodge is similar to the China Pavilion in terms of structure, color and appearance, it undoubtedly constitutes an illegal act of infringing the design patent.

Liu Ye, an associate professor, said that even if the Shanghai World Expo Bureau doesn't pursue this kind of behavior at the legal level, from the perspective of urban construction planning and brand building, this kind of cottage behavior is not worth promoting, nor can it be used to attract attention, and it is an act of disrespect for innovation and intellectual property rights.
