Symbian OS (Chinese transliteration "Symbian System") is a joint venture invested by several large mobile communication equipment vendors, such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Siemens, which specializes in developing mobile phone operating systems. The predecessor of Symbian operating system is EPOC, and EPOC comes from the first electronic letter of Cheese. Its original meaning is "using electronic products can be as simple as eating cheese", which is the concept it adheres to when designing.
Symbian operating system has powerful applications and communication capabilities on smart mobile terminals, which are all due to its very sound core-powerful object-oriented system, enterprise-oriented standard communication transmission protocol and perfect sun java language. Symbian believes that wireless communication devices should not only provide voice communication, but also have other communication methods, such as stylus and keyboard. In hardware design, it can provide many different styles of appearance, such as using a real or virtual keyboard. In software function, it can accommodate many functions, including sharing information with others, browsing the web, transmitting, receiving emails, faxes and managing personal life. In addition, Symbian operating system reserves a variety of interfaces for manufacturers in terms of expansibility, and EPOC operating system can be subdivided into three types: Pearl/Shi Ying/Crystal, which respectively correspond to ordinary mobile phones, smart phones and handheld PC applications.
Advantages: Symbian system has always occupied the leading position in the intelligent system market, with strong system capability, convenient use and many online resources, and many softwares can be downloaded and installed.
Disadvantages: slow response, poor support for mainstream media formats, poor compatibility of different versions of software, and certificate problems are also a headache.
Windows Mobile
At first, the Windows Mobile operating system introduced by Microsoft was regarded as a product competing with Palm OS. However, today, the application of Windows Mobile has surpassed Palm and started to show the king of handheld devices. V5.0 released last year has made many practical improvements, including smarter versions of Word and Excel, direct mail technology and persistent data storage.
Windows Mobile is a software platform developed by Microsoft for Pocket PC and Smartphone. Windows Mobile extends the familiar Windows desktop to personal devices.
WindowsMobile is Microsoft's "mobile version of Windows" for handheld devices. The devices using Windows Mobile operating system mainly include mobile phones, PDA's and portable music players. There are three kinds of Windows Mobile operating systems, namely WindowsMobile Standard, Windows MobileProfessional and Windows Mobile Classic. At present, the latest version is Windows Mobile 6. 1, and the 6.5 version will be announced soon.
The mainstream hardware configuration of Windows Mobile handheld computers and mobile phones: CPU: 195-624 Mhz, Main chip manufacturers: Intel, Texas Instruments, Samsung, Qualcomm, etc. Memory: 64- 128MB Ram (for program running), 128-256MBRom (for storing third-party programs and user files), display screen: 240x320 or 480x640, 65000 colors, 2. SDHC, high-end models with built-in WiFi wireless network receiving module, GPS satellite receiving module, FM radio receiving module, 3G or 3.5G high-speed network.
Advantages: the interface and operation are very close to Windows on the computer, which is very familiar and easy to use for computer friends; All kinds of information and materials stored in computers or mobile phones can be easily enjoyed; There are a large number of application software for users to choose from.
Disadvantages: high system resources, easy system crash, and relatively high model price.
Linux operating system
At present, there are more and more mobile phones using Linux operating system, but the operating system of almost every mobile phone is developed by the manufacturer himself, and Linux does not have a unified platform. However, it is worth noting that some manufacturers have recently introduced the concept of GreenPhone, providing a unified Linux software platform, and then mobile phone manufacturers add specific functions, which is close to a complete mobile phone operating system.
At present, the biggest obstacle to the development of Linux lies in its high demand for hardware and lack of strong promoters. As a result, the cost of Linux mobile phone is not cheap and the version is chaotic. But the advantages of Linux are also quite obvious. First, it is free and does not need to pay any patent fees, which is a great temptation for most mobile phone manufacturers. Secondly, open source, every willing vendor can participate in the underlying development of Linux operating system.
We can only make short-term predictions about the future of Linux. Now other operating systems are quite perfect, but Linux is far from mature, so Linux will not be widely used in a short time, but mobile phones using Linux should appear in the market one after another and be welcomed to a certain extent.
Advantages: it has the advantages of free, free and open source code, and users can learn the code independently and customize the contents of most systems.
Disadvantages: Linux operating system model comes from official third-party software, and users need to brush their own computers to install more programs, which is somewhat difficult to operate.
Palm operating system
Palm OS is an operating system developed by Palm Company and used exclusively for PDA. It is the overlord of PDA and once occupied 90% of the PDA market. Although it is not specially designed for mobile phones, the excellence of Palm OS and its support for mobile devices also make it an excellent mobile phone operating system. Its latest version is Palm OS 5.2. At present, handheld PDA with mobile phone function, such as tungsten W of Palm Company. The Treo series of Handspring Company (acquired by Palm Company) is a mobile phone specializing in Palm OS, such as Treo 270 and the latest high-profile Treo 650.
Four years ago, Palm was the mainstream operating system of PDA. At that time, high-end PDA were all products of Palm and Sony, almost all of which were parallel imports brought back from abroad. However, the current Palm operating system is no longer beautiful. Sony announced its withdrawal from the international PDA market (in fact, it is equivalent to announcing that it will stop producing PDAs equipped with Palm operating system, because all Sony's PDAs use Palm system), which is no less than an avalanche for Palm. In fact, Sony's withdrawal has indeed become a watershed for Palm from prosperity to decline. Since then, Palm's market share has been gradually eroded by Windows Mobile.
Advantages: Palm OS system takes up less resources, has fast processing speed and is simple and easy to use.
Disadvantages: single function, small user base and slow development of operating platform supporting Chinese.
Mac OS X (apple's iphone system)
Mac OS X is the latest version of Apple Macintosh operating system software. Mac OS X was first introduced in shopping centers on 200 1. It consists of two main parts: Darwin, based on BSD source code and Mach microkernel, is an open source code environment similar to Unix, which is adopted by Apple computer and further developed in cooperation with independent developers; And a copyrighted GUI developed by Apple Computer Company, named Aqua.
Mac OS X Server was also released on 200 1. The architecture is the same as the workstation (client), but it is different in the workgroup management and management software tools, which provides simplified access to key network services, such as mail transmission server, samba software, LDAP directory server and name server (DNS). There are also different types of authorization.
Advantages: Full touch design is really a mobile phone revolution, with strong entertainment performance and many third-party software.
Disadvantages: the system is closed and its functions are not comprehensive.
Google Android
HTC G 1 operating interface Android is an open source mobile phone operating system based on Linux platform developed by Google. It includes operating system, user interface and application programs-all the software needed for the mobile phone to work, and there are no proprietary obstacles that hindered innovation in the mobile industry in the past. Google and open handset alliance jointly developed Android, and the alliance consists of more than 30 leading companies in technology and wireless applications, including China Mobile, Motorola, Qualcomm, HTC and T-Mobile. Through in-depth cooperation with operators, equipment manufacturers, developers and other related parties, we hope to form an open ecosystem in the mobile industry by establishing a standardized and open mobile phone software platform. We believe that this will promote better and faster innovation and provide unpredictable applications and services for mobile users.
The word android originally meant "robot". At that time, Android was the name of the open source mobile phone operating system based on Linux platform announced by Google on June 5, 2007. The platform is composed of operating system, middleware, user interface and application software, and it is said to be the first truly open and complete mobile terminal mobile software.
On September 22nd, 2008, American operator T-Mobile USA officially released the first Google mobile phone-T-Mobile G1in new york. Made by HTC, this mobile phone is the world's first mobile phone using Android operating system, supporting WCDMA/HSPA network, with a theoretical download rate of 7.2Mbps and supporting Wi-Fi.
Advantages: It has the functions of touch screen, advanced graphic display and Internet access, and the interface is powerful, which can be said to be a single platform integrating all Web applications.
Disadvantages: there are fewer models using this system, which is a bit difficult to get started.
BlackBerry
"Blackberry" Blackberry is the number one smartphone in the US market, thanks to its manufacturer RIM(Research in Motion) entering the mobile market earlier and developing an e-mail system adapted to the US market. As we all know, the classic design of BlackBerry is a large screen and a QWERTY keyboard for easy input, so BlackBerry has always been a giant of mobile mail. Because it is an orthodox business machine, its function in multimedia playback is very weak. Maybe we should focus on improving this weakness in the future, because the integration of mobile phone functions is the general trend, and people will not be satisfied with a single function.
Blackberry began at 1998, and RIM's brand strategy consultant thought that the small standard English black keyboard crowded together by wireless email receivers looked like the seeds on the surface of strawberries, so it got such an interesting name. It should be said that the synchronization between BlackBerry and desktop PC is perfect. It can automatically forward your Outlook mail to the BlackBerry, but when you send mail with the BlackBerry, it will automatically add the words "This mail was sent by the BlackBerry" at the end of the mail.
Blackberries have little influence outside the United States. Recently, China has begun to cooperate with RIM to carry out the promotion experiment of mobile phone mailbox in Guangzhou, but it seems that the effect is not great at present. As we all know, our country doesn't rely on e-mail as Americans do. They discuss work and schedule by email, while we prefer to talk face to face. It can be said that apart from the classic appearance, the influence of BlackBerry in China is almost zero.
Advantages: The synchronization between BlackBerry and desktop PC is perfect. As we all know, the classic design of BlackBerry is a large screen and a QWERTY keyboard for easy input, so BlackBerry has always been a giant of mobile mail.
Disadvantages: the function in multimedia playback is very weak.
