Changsha University is an ordinary undergraduate higher education institution established on the basis of the original Changsha University (junior college) with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is an applied undergraduate planning university for the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" national industry-education integration development project, in 2017 It was approved as a project construction unit for a master's degree awarding unit in Hunan Province. In 2018, it was selected into the Hunan Province's "Double First-Class" high-level applied characteristic college construction project, and was rated as a "Hunan Province Civilized University".
Since 2010, the school has won a total of 1,604 vertical scientific research projects at all levels and of various types, with a funding of 94.011 million yuan for vertical scientific research projects. School teachers have undertaken 70 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Fund, including 2 key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation; they have undertaken 516 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects.
Received 191 awards for scientific research achievements, including 8 provincial science and technology awards (including 1 second-class provincial scientific and technological progress award, 4 third-class provincial scientific and technological progress awards, and 3 third-class provincial natural science awards) , 5 provincial outstanding achievement awards in philosophy and social sciences (including 1 first prize and 4 second prizes); 113 national invention patent authorizations and 305 utility model patent authorizations.
