Shaoguan was called Shaozhou in ancient times, named after Shao Shi Mountain, a famous mountain in Danxia, and changed Donghengzhou to Shaozhou in the name of Shao Shi, which has been followed by generations. Qujiang County was established in Ding Yuan in six years, and Shaoguan was administered by the county. Shaozhou was named after Shaoguan in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In this city, Shaoguan has set up three water and land customs to collect taxes, commonly known as Shaoguan.
