Before Reno3 Pro, many manufacturers wanted to make mobile phones thinner. I heard that there was a big factory owner these two days, because all the products of 20 19 were brick-shaped, and the product manager was scolded all over. This year, the new products have fully returned to thinness. As for the main products released recently, more than half of the models have chosen the thin and light route. But thinness always comes at a price, and SOC, image module and battery are impossible triangle paradox.
The appearance of Reno3Pro makes almost all manufacturers start to consider whether they can challenge this impossible trinity. It doesn't matter if they can't solve it. Can they raise the bottom line of these three factors as much as possible? For example, Samsung has achieved a slim and performance experience. Ever since, this year we have seen the Nova7 and Glory 30 series that subvert the design of the Nova6 series; Saw OPPO's Reno4 series; I also saw the X50 series of the follow-up vivo.
The same goal of the whole industry is the collective reflection on the brick flow last year. It is the guidance of this year's consumption trend for everyone to choose less lame components to create new thin and light products.
In this sense, Reno4 series is the supplement of Reno3 series, and it is also the inheritance of thin and light exploration under mainstream performance. On the basis of Reno3Pro, it makes up for many regrets (although the performance of SoC is still standing still).
Reno4 series is an offline machine, and the basic logic of offline machine is the comprehensive effect of sales, brand, service and price system. This year's market challenges are great. The Reno4Pro in my hand is titanium white, which is put together with my Reno3Pro. The design style is in the same strain, and there is not much difference. The official size data is: 7.6mm thickness, 172 g weight. The thickness measured by vernier caliper is 7.65mm (error precision is 0.05mm), and the net weight measured by food scale is172 g. Reno4Pro's middle frame opening, Samsung SuperAMOLED curved screen encapsulated by COP, back cover size, front opening position and size are all the same as Reno3Pro. Reno3Pro's aviation aluminum middle frame is sandblasted rose gold, while this titanium dioxide Reno4Pro middle frame is polished silver touch. Reno series Cato color fusion has always been very good, and this time is no exception. It is integrated with the middle frame, and the difference between color and material can hardly be seen.
The picture above is a photo of Reno4Pro, Reno3Pro and FindX2. FindX2 glass version is 8mm thick, and 7.6mm Reno4Pro can still feel the subtle difference in thickness. The appearance design of lens module inherits the general design of OPPO vertical orientation, and the color matching has been greatly adjusted. From the black color block of Reno3Pro to the independent placement of three lenses, plus a translucent glass substrate close to the color of the back cover. The ancestor of this is apple, which was once ridiculed by the machine circle as: convex before convex. The bulge is only a visual feeling, but the actual size is not bulge.

Appearance, titanium white AG coating feels different from other similar products. The products with AG coating on my hand are: One Plus 7TPro and OPPOReno3 Pro. These two give me a smooth feeling and moderate damping. Reno4Pro titanium dioxide has a little more AG tactile damping, and the graininess of the coating is clear and sensible, and the clay of Texas Hold 'em chips is very strong. One of the great advantages of this generation of titanium dioxide coating is that it will hardly leave fingerprints, while AG of similar products will still leave some fingerprints. In addition, this time, OPPO continued to combine Pan Tong colors, and introduced two new colors, namely Crystal Diamond Blue and Crystal Diamond Red, which were made by OPPO patented technology RenoGlow, which was very special.
As for the configuration, as I said at the beginning, it is basically the same as Reno3Pro, and the image module completely inherits the settings of FindX2. CMOS and Sony IMX708 with the ratio of 16:9 are used in the ultra-wide angle, which is a little smaller than 1/2.4 inch IMX586, but better than the daily use. Native direct output 16:9 specifications120,000 pixel photos, the maximum aperture is F2.2, and the main lens is OISIMX586 F 1.7, which has been polished for more than a year. I took many samples of this main shot, and I am very satisfied with it. The 2X telephoto lens is 6.5438+0.3 megapixel CMOS, which is combined with the main camera for 5X hybrid computing imaging. Before the evaluation of FindX2 series, I talked more about IMX689 and IMX586. Today, this article will mainly show the performance of IMX708.
In terms of performance indicators, the biggest highlight of Reno4Pro and Reno4 is that it comes standard with 65W SuperVooc 2.0 flash charging, 4000 mAh battery and tab front scheme, which can be fully charged in 36 minutes. This is the first time that OPPO has put its strongest charging technology on the main offline products.
SoC and baseband indicators still use Snapdragon 765G chip with built-in X52 5G baseband. The performance and baseband capability of this chip are not outstanding, but the performance of ISP is relatively stable. Although the AI test score is not too high, it is enough to meet the needs of this module. Reno3Pro has proved that its imaging system can be played on 765G.
To sum up briefly, Reno4 standard edition is an earth-shaking change compared with Reno3, at least there will be no plastic middle frame and water drop screen; Reno4Pro is the value version of FindX2. The main difference lies in the 90Hz FHD+ Samsung flexible AMOLED screen packaged by COP and Snapdragon 765G chip. Then, an interesting question came. If Reno4 Pro adopts Snapdragon 865 chipset, would you choose Reno4Pro or FindX2?
Brief comment on image system: convincing color accuracy performance, just like FindX2.
If you are familiar with the image system of FindX2, you can basically skip this part. If you have Reno3Pro in your hand, I suggest you pay attention to this part about the super wide-angle imaging quality. Everything else is basically the same, there is no difference. The reference mobile phones used for the brief evaluation of the imaging system are FindX2 Pro(IMX689 main camera, IMX586 super wide angle) and FindX2 Standard Edition (Reno4Pro module).
In the contrast of main colors, I will use Reno4Pro and two Find X2s to compare; In terms of imaging details, Reno4Pro and FindX2Pro are mainly used for comparison to see where the gaps and differences are.
It should be noted that IMX708 itself is CMOS in 16:9 format. If it is released at 4:3, the fuselage will be cut into photos of about 9 million pixels. The 4:3 frame of IMX586 is12 million pixels (1.6μm). From the actual performance, the overall color of FindX2Pro is on the positive side (which is basically proved by the performance of indoor cultural relics), while the overall adjustment of Reno4Pro (including FindX2) is more positive. Their main hardware difference in white balance and color temperature is that FindX2Pro has a color temperature sensor, and in theory, FindX2Pro's judgment is more trustworthy. When taking photos, the feedback of FindX2Pro in green is slightly conservative, while Reno4Pro is more positive.
In terms of key resolution, I didn't find a gap between them under the magnification of 100%, which means that the resolution of IMX708 is not weak in front of IMX586. At present, IMX586 and IMX608 have the first level of 40 million pixels in ultra-wide angle selection, so IMX708 deserves to be lower than the first echelon and better than the mainstream IMX350.
I know many people will think that IMX689 on the left is better than IMX586. If we think that correcting the white balance is what the equipment itself should do, then the color temperature sensor of IMX689 plays an important role. Indeed, the right picture is better than the IMX586 on the left in terms of color, detail and depth of field control. But I still have to explain that the color of the actual scene is the one on the left. FindX2Pro corrects the color temperature of bronzes and goldsmiths to some extent when shooting cultural relics indoors, which is more pleasing to the eye. But when it comes to real feedback, Reno4Pro and FindX2 are more real.
Reno4Pro, FindX2 and FindX2Pro can eliminate the stroboscopic interference of LED lamps under the interference of indoor spotlights, and make their own judgments on colors. Of these three pictures, the color performance of FindX2 is the most consistent with the original appearance, which surprised me. FindX2Pro is more elegant and Reno4Pro is more lively. As for whether you like it or not, there are different opinions. After all, reduction is objective and love is subjective.
In warm ambient light, the actual color of this deer is more inclined to Reno4 Pro, and FindX2 Pro optimizes the color temperature to make it look more normal. In the detail part, IMX689 is reserved in indoor dark light, with more details and larger dynamic range, which is expected.
As for the sample, I chose the indoor environment of Nanjing Museum, one of the four largest in China. I mainly want to know whether Reno4Pro can give excellent imaging effect under the strange ambient light and color temperature conditions in the museum. What are the advantages and disadvantages compared with the top IMX689+IMX586?
There are two modes for 5X imaging of FindX2 Pro. Within a certain focus distance, IMX689 will be used for forced cutting, which is the so-called telephoto macro mode. Reno4Pro uses a main camera and a 2X medium focal length lens to perform mixed imaging with long focal length and macro. My previous evaluation of IMX689 is that 2X cutting is not bad, and it may be a bit reluctant to 5X cutting. In this set of proofs, neither of the two photos has truthfully fed back the real color, and IMX689 is still color temperature correction and light; Reno4Pro is a little rich. The key imaging detail, the 5X mixing of Reno4Pro, is better than the forced cutting of IMX689 in dark light.
In the static image part, I summarize as follows:
1.Reno4Pro can provide the first-class standard 16:9 super wide-angle module, which is not inferior to IMX586 direct PK.
2. Compared with FindX2Pro, Reno4Pro lacks an independent color temperature sensor and retains the laser focusing system. In indoor shooting, Reno4Pro does not have all kinds of strange color temperature shifts like other competing products, but restores the essence as much as possible. And its big brother FindX2Pro actively adjusts the white balance to make it look more natural.
3. Other parts, such as periscope 5X and hybrid zoom 5X, have little difference in color performance in the big sun, but periscope is slightly better in detail. FindX2Pro optimizes periscope in dark light, which is better than hybrid zoom in focusing speed and imaging clarity.
4. Reno4Pro and FindX2 of the same module are not completely consistent in color performance. Personally, I prefer the current adjustment strategy of FindX2. Of course, it is no problem to adjust these two to be exactly the same, depending on what OPPO thinks.
To sum up:
In terms of product strength, Reno4Pro provides a solution with reduced performance under a thin and light body, and other parts are similar to FindX2. With the brand-new fuselage technology and 65W charging, it will undertake the main sales tasks under the OPPO line in the next period of time.
This task is by no means easy. There are too many competing products in the same period, and all kinds of fancy functions and gameplay will make the Reno4 series face great challenges. According to the actual experience, Reno4Pro belongs to the kind that has no problem. There is nothing wrong with saying that there is no innovation at all. After all, other factories are also decentralizing various shell-changing technologies, right?
