What patent fees can be deferred?

If it is really difficult for the applicant or patentee to pay the relevant patent fees, he may file a request for fee reduction with the China National Intellectual Property Administration Patent Office, and if necessary, attach relevant supporting documents to request that the relevant fees be delayed. With the approval of the Patent Office, the following patent fees can be deferred in China National Intellectual Property Administration:

(1) application fee (including publication printing fee and application surcharge);

(2) Examination fee for an application for a patent for invention;

(3) Annual fee (within three years from the year when the patent right is granted);

(4) Maintenance fee for application for patent for invention;

(5) review fee.
