Insertion and mixing technology is different from pure electricity technology.
Pure electric technology is very simple. It appeared a hundred years ago, and many patents at that time had expired. Now pure electric mainly focuses on hardware innovation. With a mature supply chain, all car companies can produce pure electric vehicles because there is no need for core patented technology. Even if you are not a car company, you can only make excellent pure electric vehicles with money.
Interpolation and mixing technology is a new technology that has only appeared in recent ten years, and the core technology is mixed technology route. Technical route is not a high-end technology, there may be one, two or three optimal routes, and more than a dozen technical routes may not all be optimal.
It didn't appear for a long time, and there is a patent protection law. Whoever engages in plug-in hybrid first will work out the optimal technical route first, and whoever registers the patent first will have the patent advantage. Most car companies simply can't bypass the patent of technical route with a 20-year protection period.
For example, Toyota's first-generation hybrid technology route is not optimal. Later, when developing the second generation hybrid IIMMD, we finally bypassed Toyota's patent and found another optimal solution, only to find that BYD's technical route patent could not be bypassed. Later, under the coordination of GAC, BYD signed a patent licensing agreement for Honda, and Honda's second-generation hybrid only used BYD's patent, which is exactly the same as BYD's F3DM and Qin PLUS's technology roadmap.
BYD and Honda are on the same route, and BYD controls patents; Toyota and GM are another route. Coincidentally, GM originally registered first, but on the day of publication, Toyota registered the same patent. Because Toyota's registration date and Honda's announcement date are the same day, both patents are valid.
BYD (Honda) route and GM (Toyota) route are the best two mixed routes at present. The GM (Toyota) route patent has expired, and the BYD (Honda) route is still in the patent protection period. At present, only BYD and Honda can use it. Therefore, Roewe and Great Wall need to add a transmission to plug-in hybrid, just to bypass the patent, but it cannot be the best route.
