What is the difference between FDM, SLA and DLP desktop 3D printers?

1, the basic principle is different.

FDM, that is, "melting deposition" technology, heats and melts ABS, PLA and other silk materials by a heating device, then squeezes them like toothpaste, accumulates them layer by layer and finally forms them.

SLA, "Three-dimensional Lithography Device", the laser beam outlines the shape of the first layer of the object on the surface of the liquid resin, then the manufacturing platform descends for a certain distance (between 0.05 and 0.025 mm), and then the solidified layer is immersed in the liquid resin, and so on. The resin used is photosensitive resin, which will form a solid state after being irradiated by laser beam.

DLP, the "digital light projection" technology, uses the same consumables as SLA, all of which are light-cured resins. The biggest difference between DLP and SLA is that DLP uses digital light source of projector, while SLA uses laser head. Because of this, DLP is swept away, and SLA can only be formed by one laser spot.

Second, the performance is different.

FDM3D printer is flexible and diverse in architecture, including XYZ frame structure, triangular structure and mechanical arm, so the molding size can be made very small or very large. However, large-size FDM3D printers often have problems of poor stability and slow printing speed. Therefore, it is impossible to build a large FDM3D printer without considerable technical strength.

SLA is also printed by moving the optical axis. Theoretically, it can be made into a large size, but the speed will be slower. And the current technology can't make a large SLA3D printer.

If DLP is large, it will sacrifice accuracy.

Current molding size: FDM>;; SLA≈DLP .

Third, the molding accuracy is different.

3D printer has XYZ three-axis control accuracy, and Z axis is the accuracy of stepping motor, which is often called layer thickness. There is no difference in this accuracy among FDM, DLP and SLA, because all the stepping motors are bought in the market, and the theoretical minimum can be 0.01mm. The difference mainly lies in the accuracy of X axis and Y axis.

Because FDM extrudes consumables layer by layer through the extrusion head, the step effect is obvious (that is, things layer by layer), which requires higher mechanical structure. In addition, theoretically, the smaller the nozzle diameter of FDM3D printer, the higher the accuracy, but the smaller the nozzle, the more likely it is to cause the blockage of consumables, so the smaller the nozzle, the better.

However, SLA and DLP are much more accurate because they are shaped by light. The light emitted by DLP is fan-shaped and scattered, and SLA is laser, which is approximately a straight line, so the accuracy will be better than DLP.

At present, in terms of accuracy: SLA & gtDLP & gt frequency-division multiplexing.
