Tianjin Engineer College is the earliest general higher education institution in my country to train vocational education teachers nationwide. Normal College, established in 1979, was affiliated to the former Ministry of Labor. In the past five years, teachers of the college have undertaken 261 projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including the national "863" project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the National Education Science Planning Key Project, and have won 25 provincial and ministerial level awards. Teachers have published 2,292 academic papers as the first author, published 20 monographs, and applied for 83 patents; the academic journal "Vocational Education Research" is a first-class journal in Tianjin and has won the "First Prize in the National Vocational Education Journal Competition" for many years.
The college builds the school with characteristics, adheres to the school-running philosophy of "using hands and brains, and comprehensive development", and pioneers the talent training model of "implementing a dual certificate system and cultivating integrated vocational teachers"; it has twice won the national teaching award First Prize for Achievement; In 2006, the college received excellent evaluation in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education. Since 1999, the college has been identified as one of the first batch of "National Key Construction Vocational Teacher Training Bases" and "National Vocational and Technical College Teacher Training Bases" by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other ministries and commissions " and 13 training bases, among which the first three bases are the leading units.
As the first educational foreign aid base of the Ministry of Education, the college has sent 104 teachers to teach in vocational colleges in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Yemen and other countries in the past five years, cultivating and training nearly 10,000 students. In 2008, entrusted by the Ministry of Education, the college sent teachers and management cadres to serve as the principal, vice principal, assistant principal, department head and key teachers of the Ethiopia-China Vocational and Technical College built with Chinese aid. The college also established the first Confucius Institute in Ethiopia - the "Confucius Institute in Addis Ababa" to vigorously promote Chinese culture.
