The in-service postgraduate discipline of metallurgical engineering at North China University of Science and Technology consists of three secondary disciplines: iron and steel metallurgy, metallurgical physical chemistry, and non-ferrous metal metallurgy; among which, iron and steel metallurgy is an excellent master's degree authorization site in Hebei Province and an in-service graduate student in Hebei Province. Excellent key disciplines, the Modern Metallurgical Technology Laboratory is a key laboratory of the Ministry of Education and a key laboratory of Hebei Province.

The Metallurgical Engineering major has a strong faculty, with 14 professors and 10 associate professors, including 20 PhDs. In recent years, it has undertaken 7 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 10 Provincial Natural Science Fund projects, and won more than 30 scientific research awards, including 1 National Science and Technology Progress Award; 1 Hebei Province Governor’s Special Award, 3 Provincial Science and Technology Progress First Prizes, and Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards. 1 second-class progress award, 15 third-class provincial scientific and technological progress awards, and 18 provincial and ministerial-level awards***. He has published more than 300 papers, of which more than 50 are indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. Published 11 monographs and 5 invention patents.
