Foreign patent ranking

According to foreign media reports, a new report shows that Japan is still a strong country in battery technology innovation, and other companies such as Panasonic and Toyota have applied for more than one-third of international patents.

According to the joint report of the European Patent Office and the International Energy Agency, in 20 18, Japan applied for 2,339 international patents on battery-related inventions, almost twice as much as South Korea (1230). In the competition for battery dominance, two East Asian economies are caught in fierce competition, which is crucial for the widespread use of electric vehicles and renewable energy.

According to this study, China ranks fourth in patent application, the United States ranks fifth, and the 38 States parties to the European Patent Convention rank third.

From 2000 to 20 18, among the TOP 10 applicants, Japanese companies accounted for 7, but Samsung galaxy ranked first with 4,787 inventions. Panasonic, a Tesla battery supplier, ranked second with 4046; Followed by LG Electronics, with 2,999 patent applications; Toyota ranked fourth; Japanese companies such as Hitachi and Sony ranked lower in the previous 10.

In recent 20 years, battery innovation has entered a stage of rapid development. In 20 18, * * had 7 153 international patent applications for energy storage inventions, a substantial increase compared with 1029 in 2000, most of which were batteries. As far as 20 18 is concerned, the innovation of lithium-ion batteries for mobile phones and notebook computers accounts for 45% of the total battery patents.

The report shows that in 20 19, the sales of pure electric vehicles in China reached 165438+ 10,000, accounting for half of the global share. In contrast, Japan's share is only 2%.

In addition, in the field of power batteries, the largest market share is not Japanese manufacturers. According to the energy market tracking agency SNE? According to the research data, LG Chem occupied 24.6% of the global electric vehicle battery market in the first half of this year, ranking first. China Contemporary Ampere Technology Co., Ltd. ranked second, with a market share of 23.4%, and Matsushita ranked third, accounting for about 20.4%.

In the middle of this month, South Korea's LG Chem approved the divestiture of battery business through the board of directors. Before the battery division was spun off, the related business segments had occupied a leading position in the global electric vehicle drive battery market, which led to the company's stock price rising continuously.
