How to raise snails

Snail is not a biological classification name, generally referring to all terrestrial species of Gastropoda. But how to raise snails? Here's what I did for you. I hope it works for you.

Characteristics of snails

Any of numerous aquatic or terrestrial mollusks of the class Gastropoda, usually with a thick spiral shell and wide feet turned inward. Snail's whole body includes Baker, head, neck, shell membrane, feet, internal organs, cysts and other parts, with a spiral shell on its back. Different colors, their shells are pagoda-shaped, gyro-shaped, conical, spherical tubular and so on. At present, white jade snail, covered snail, scattered snail, open snail and brown cloud agate snail all have their own unique shapes.

Snail is not a biological classification name, generally referring to all terrestrial species of Gastropoda. Generally speaking, there is no distinction between aquatic snails and terrestrial snails in western languages. In Chinese, snails only refer to terrestrial species, although they also include many animals of different families and genera, but they are similar in shape. Snails belong to mollusks, Gastropoda; Feed on decaying plants and lay eggs in the soil. It is most common in tropical islands, but it is also found in cold regions. Arboreal species are brightly colored, while terrestrial species are usually monochromatic. The agate snail in Africa is the largest, more than 20 centimeters. Several species of European snail are often used as delicacies, especially in France. Snail is one of the most common mollusks on land, which has high edible and medicinal value. Jay Chou has a song Snail; There are also "snail poems".

Method for breeding snails

First, the right temperature.

Proper temperature is the premise to ensure the normal growth of snails. White jade snail is a cold-blooded animal, that is, a temperature-changing animal. Its body temperature will change with the change of environmental temperature, so temperature is particularly important for the growth and reproduction of white jade snail. The optimum temperature for breeding white jade snails is 20℃ ~ 32℃, and the temperature difference between day and night should not be too large, generally not exceeding 5℃. Cooling should be carried out in summer, and measures such as strengthening ventilation, shading and frequent watering can be taken. In winter, you can use heating, stoves, light bulbs, electric stoves, ground fires, firewalls and other facilities to keep warm.

Second, the reasonable humidity

Humidity directly affects the growth and development of white jade snail. When the temperature is high and the humidity is low, the snail itself loses water, and after losing 30% of water, it will stop moving or even die; On the contrary, white jade snails live in too humid or moldy soil for a long time, which will cause bacterial infection and lead to illness and death. Therefore, the most suitable air relative humidity for snail growth activity is 80% ~ 90%, which can be measured by hanging hygrometer. The water content of soil is 30% ~ 40%, and should not exceed 50%. Generally, when mixed with water, it will knead into a ball and disperse at the touch.

Third, the appropriate density

The stocking density of white jade snails can be adjusted in time according to the temperature, individual size and growth, and the principle of separate feeding of large and small snails should be adhered to. The stocking density of young cattle can be higher, and that of breeding cattle can be lower. When the temperature is low, the stocking density can be high, and when the temperature is high, the stocking density can be low. The general standards of stocking density are: 2000 ~ 3000 young cattle /m2, 600 ~ 800 growing cattle /m2 and 350 ~ 400 breeding cattle /m2.

Fourth, scientific feeding.

The quantity and quality of feed directly affect the growth rate of snails. According to the different growth stages of white jade snails, the corresponding compound feed is fed to meet the growth needs of snails of all ages. White jade snail is an omnivore, flowers, leaves, fruits, roots and tubers of all plants can be used, but it doesn't like irritating plants, such as leeks, garlic, onions and peppers. The tender and juicy green feed can account for 90% ~ 95% of the white jade snail diet, and the concentrate feed is 5% ~ 10%. Common concentrated feeds are: wheat bran, rice bran, corn flour, soybean meal, light fish meal, shell powder, bone powder, yeast powder and so on.

Reasonable feeding of feed. In order to achieve better feeding effect. Feed should be sufficient, with 6% ~ 8% of body weight as the standard, and varieties should be diversified. It is enough to feed 1 ~ 2 kinds of turquoise feed every day. It must be fresh, clean and pollution-free, and rotten feed must never be fed. Before feeding the feed, water should be sprayed into the feeding pond to encourage snails to eat. Feed should be rationed regularly. Because white jade snails lie down during the day, come out at night, and forage at night, the feeding time should be around 6 pm every day.

Verbs (short for verb) are strictly managed.

Pick up the leftovers. Clean up snail leftovers and feces every morning to prevent feed mildew from polluting aquaculture ponds, breeding bacteria, causing snails to suffer from corruption and preventing a large number of deaths.

Prevent natural enemies. Rats, ants, flies and centipedes are natural enemies of snails. Poisonous baits should be regularly put in the breeding room to prevent natural enemies from harming them. The feeding room should be dark and damp. Snails like darkness, not because they don't need sunlight, but because they avoid direct glare. Such as: buildings, bungalows, basements, air-raid shelters, etc. Can be cultivated. It can also be replaced by plastic pots, brick pools, etc.

It is best to grow snails with fine river sand. Young cattle can be added with loose and moist garden soil rich in humus plants, but they must not contain eggs and be contaminated by harmful substances such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

White jade snail is an omnivore, with green feed: such as cabbage, lettuce, sunflower leaves, melon leaves, bean leaves, tomatoes, eggplant and so on. Juicy feed: such as various melon skins, fruit tubers, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, etc. Add some concentrate.

Prospects and benefits of snail farming

1, the breeding prospect of snails

In China, all major star-rated hotels have snail dishes, but some large supermarkets don't have snail dishes. Although snails have been developed in China for many years, the snail breeding industry has not developed due to speculation. It can be seen that it is imperative to develop snail breeding industry to fill the gap of snail food in China.

2. Benefit analysis of snail culture.

The snail species is per 15 yuan, and the minimum number of snails per household is 1 1,000. If each household invests 65,438+0,500.00 yuan, the company will make a profit of 65,438+0,000.00 yuan when it returns to its capital.

Due to the low investment, short cycle, easy-to-understand technology and simple feeding of artificial breeding snails; Compared with chickens, pigs and rabbits, it has no plague and risk, and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors all the year round. It is suitable for farmers, retired workers, laid-off workers and housewives to engage in large-scale farming. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Science and Technology Commission, the State Patent Office, the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other relevant departments actively support the development of snail farming, and in 1997, the snail farming project was listed as a national spark plan for promotion.
