Why are there so few dual-certificate lawyers (patent agents)?

First, objectively speaking, China people's concept of intellectual property rights is still a little weak. At present, the proportion of intellectuals who know about patent agency business is not very high, and many people don't know that they are qualified as patent agents.

Two, the patent agent qualification examination registration needs to meet two key conditions:

1, major in science and engineering in colleges and universities (or equivalent), and master a foreign language.

2, engaged in scientific and technical work or legal work for more than two years.

This basically determines that most people who apply for the patent agent qualification examination will be science and engineering students, because it is not very cost-effective for liberal arts students to take a degree in science and engineering for this qualification examination.

For science and engineering students, the judicial examination is an insurmountable mountain.

Therefore, it is difficult for arts and sciences to get double certificates. Relatively speaking, science and engineering students are easier, because there is no rigid requirement for academic qualifications.

Third, the judicial examination reform is just around the corner. Even if non-law students can continue to apply on 20 17, it is probably the last time. Therefore, as the older generation of double-certificate lawyers fade out of the industry, there will be fewer and fewer people with double certificates in the future. If the subject has double certificates, it will undoubtedly add more chips for his future career.
