The main symptoms of canine distemper:
Early onset: watery secretions appeared in the eyes and nose of dogs, and the body temperature was as high as 40 degrees Celsius for about 2-3 days. It ate a little, close to room temperature. The sick dog seems to be getting better, which has caused most dog owners to relax their vigilance. If it can be found, it can be cured well. Then the body temperature rose for several weeks for the second time, when the inflammation of respiratory tract and digestive tract was more obvious. This condition generally lasts for 65,438+0-2 weeks, with a dry cough, and enters the middle stage of canine distemper: with the second increase of body temperature, the condition is further deteriorated, and the secondary infection of various bacteria is more serious, shivering, mental fluctuation, increased nasal and eye secretions turn into purulent and oral erosion. Cough, tracheitis, pneumonia symptoms often appear, vomiting, diarrhea and so on. Sometimes, I lose my appetite or don't eat at all, and my body gradually becomes thinner. This situation usually lasts for more than 1 month. Later, it became a wet cough and it was difficult to breathe. Vomiting, diarrhea, intussusception, and finally died of severe dehydration and weakness. Neurosymptomatic canine distemper is a typical manifestation of entering the late stage of canine distemper, which often occurs about 10 days after the above symptoms. Late stage: symptoms of nervous canine distemper appear. In addition to the symptoms of canine distemper in the middle stage, dogs occasionally have symptoms of nervous canine distemper, such as withering, muscle pain and weakness, muscle paroxysmal spasm, imbalance, circle movement, epileptic convulsion, coma and so on. Generally, dogs will die after maintaining this symptom for 1-2 weeks. In the middle and late stage, the symptoms of canine distemper appear papules and blisters. Foot and hoof sclerosis is partially formed under the abdomen or on the skin of the inner thigh of the sick dog. Clinically, the keratinization of foot pads and nose leads to the occurrence of nervous canine distemper symptoms. The symptoms are different because the canine distemper virus invades the central nervous system in different places. The virus damages the brain, showing symptoms of nervous canine distemper such as epilepsy, turning in circles, abnormal standing posture, unstable gait, paroxysmal convulsions of masticatory muscles and limbs. The prognosis of this nervous canine distemper is mostly poor.
Canine distemper virus can cause eye damage in some dogs, showing conjunctivitis and keratitis. Keratitis is most common about 15 days after onset, and the cornea turns white. In severe cases, corneal ulcer, perforation and blindness may occur. The mortality rate of this disease in puppies is very high, and the mortality rate can reach 80 ~ 90%. It can also cause pneumonia, enteritis, intussusception and other symptoms. Once the symptoms of nervous canine distemper appear in clinic, the cure rate is very low but not absolute. Especially dogs that have not been immunized. Although symptomatic treatment was carried out in clinic, it was difficult to control the development of the disease, and most of them died of symptoms and failure of canine distemper in the nervous system. Partially recovered dogs generally leave different degrees of sequelae.
The incubation period of canine distemper varies greatly with different sources of infection, averaging 3-7 days. Most of the symptoms of canine distemper are first manifested as upper respiratory tract infection, increased body temperature (39.5-4 1.0 degrees), decreased appetite, poor spirit, and watery secretions in eyes and nose. 1-2 days later, symptoms were relieved, body temperature became normal, and mental appetite improved. After 3-4 days, the body temperature rose again and the condition deteriorated rapidly. If you don't eat or drink, your nose will fester, your eye secretions will increase, and even your eyes will be burnt. Partial strabismus with corneal perforation. At the same time, severe pneumonia and enteritis symptoms also followed.
A few cases are mainly digestive tract symptoms, such as loss of appetite, vomiting, watery stool or sticky stool, bloody stool in severe cases, extreme dehydration and emaciation in sick dogs, which are very similar to the symptoms of canine parvovirus, but not as fast as parvovirus. The course of disease is about 7- 10 days, and some sick dogs are accompanied by mild upper respiratory symptoms.
The nervous system symptom of canine distemper is one of the more characteristic symptoms of the disease, which is manifested in three ways: first, it appears 7-2 1 day after the recovery of systemic symptoms; Second, it is manifested in the early stage of fever; Third, accompanied by severe symptoms of canine distemper. The sick dog has mild local convulsions of lips, eyelids, ear roots, one forelimb or hind limb, and severe convulsions such as salivation, empty chewing, foaming at the mouth and falling to the ground, which are manifested as epileptic seizures. After the convulsion stopped, some people barked, whirled and collided for several seconds to several minutes, and the number of attacks also developed from several times a day to more than ten times. Most sick dogs have poor prognosis. A few sick dogs may survive after treatment, and some of them are accompanied by sequelae such as weakness of hindquarters, local convulsions of limbs and face. Some sick dogs are accompanied by dry nose, swelling of four feet, excessive proliferation and keratinization when the symptoms of canine distemper attack, forming hard pad disease. A few sick dogs also have lentiform papules on their abdominal skin.
In a word, the symptoms of canine distemper are complex and diverse, which are related to its virus characteristics and secondary mixed infection with other bacteria and viruses.
The following should attract the attention of dog owners.
It is caused by canine distemper virus, which is very tenacious and has little chance of being cured in ordinary pet hospitals. The smaller the dog, the greater the death rate. Even adult dogs are prone to leave sequelae such as facial convulsions, which is also commonly known as dog epilepsy. But as long as it can be completely cured, dogs will never suffer from canine distemper again in their lives. The onset of canine distemper is faster than rabies, and the incubation period is less than one week. The following are the symptoms of canine distemper:
At first, I had a fever of more than 40 degrees, listlessness, loss of appetite, runny nose and gums.
After two or three days, my condition suddenly improved and my temperature and diet returned to normal. Most people will think that the dog is well and stop treatment, but it is not.
After a few days of repeated onset, fever will continue, and symptoms of canine distemper such as respiratory infection and pneumonia will appear.
Then began to irregular severe diarrhea, with a thick nose, in the middle of canine distemper, feces were watery, mixed with blood and mucus, and had a stench.
In the late stage of the sick dog, the skin on the soles of the feet and nose began to harden, the nervous system was damaged, and convulsions continued. Severe dogs have epilepsy and coma, and finally the dog dies. Dogs are the most dangerous at this time, and general pet hospitals will give up treatment.
Symptoms after the onset of canine distemper are all described above. If your dog has the above symptoms of canine distemper, please go to the pet hospital for examination in time to prevent it before it happens. The sooner you treat and cure canine distemper, the higher the success rate. Don't give up easily even in the late stage of canine distemper. With the continuous development of medical technology and the popularization and application of traditional Chinese medicine, the cure rate of canine distemper is also increasing, and the treatment methods are not single. It is particularly worth mentioning that Professor Han of the canine distemper emergency center, after years of practical research, combined the essence of traditional Chinese medicine with the biomedical technology of western medicine to develop his own set of treatment methods and drugs for canine distemper, especially for dogs with nervous canine distemper symptoms in the late stage of canine distemper, which greatly improved the cure rate of canine distemper. It is believed that in the near future, the treatment of canine distemper will no longer be a worldwide problem in pet medical care.
Sick dogs are the main source of canine parvovirus disease, and the toxic content in feces, urine, vomit and saliva of sick dogs is the highest. Sick dogs constantly detoxify and infect other healthy dogs. The feces of rehabilitation dogs are poisonous for a long time, so it is extremely difficult to completely eliminate the disease once the dog gets sick. Besides dogs, wolves, foxes and yard bears can also be naturally infected. The disease is mainly infected by direct or indirect contact.
Canine parvovirus has strong resistance to external factors. It can survive for 65,438+0 hours at 60℃ and 30 minutes at 80℃. Canine parvovirus is still infectious in acidic (hydrogen ion concentration of 65,438+0,000 umol/L, namely pH3) and alkaline (hydrogen ion concentration of 65,438+0,000 umol/L, namely pH9) environments. Canine parvovirus is sensitive to 0.5% formalin or 0.5% peracetic acid, but insensitive to chloroform and ether. If toxic feces and intestines are refrigerated at low temperature, their infectivity can be maintained for a long time. Canine parvovirus epidemic has no obvious seasonality, and can occur all year round, but it is more common in winter and spring. Viral dogs are the main source of infection, and the vomit, feces and urine of sick dogs contain a lot of viruses. There are two modes of transmission, direct and indirect. The former is that healthy dogs without immunity are infected by direct contact with sick dogs, while the latter is that healthy dogs without immunity are infected by eating contaminated water and feed. The disease mainly affects puppies less than half a year old, especially puppies less than three months old. Once infected with this disease, more than 50% are mixed gastroenteritis and myocarditis, and the mortality rate is as high as 80%, and sometimes the infection rate can be as high as 100%.
The symptoms of canine parvovirus are generally two types in clinic. Namely hemorrhagic enteritis type and non-suppurative myocarditis type.
Canine diarrhea infected with canine parvovirus.
1. Sedimentation, vomiting, sudden diarrhea, loss of appetite, difficulty in drinking water, dehydration and weakness.
Because of severe dehydration, I act normally in the morning and feel refreshed at night.
3. Gastroenteritis in a strict sense can cause a lot of vomiting.
4. At the beginning of the disease, the feces are thin and mushy. With the development of the disease, the feces are ketchup-colored or brown, with a foul smell, and the number of defecation is uncertain. First, there are symptoms of urgency, and then there is a heavy feeling.
5. The body temperature can reach above 40℃
Symptoms of hemorrhagic enteritis type canine parvovirus: It mostly occurs in puppies of 2-6 months old, with an incubation period of 7- 14 days. Sick dogs usually have sudden onset, mostly after changing the environment (such as newly bought puppies). Overeating in the bath is the inducement. At first, the symptoms were depression, anorexia, fever at the beginning, body temperature above 40℃, soft stool or mild vomiting, dry nose, early flush on the membrane, pale vomiting at the later stage, food at the early stage, viscous yellow-green liquid at the later stage, frequent vomiting at the later stage and severe diarrhea. At first, the feces were gray, yellow or milky white with jelly-like mucus, and later the feces were ketchup or yellow-green liquid. 180 times/minute, even more than 240 times/minute, almost impossible to count. After hematochezia, the sick dog showed eye drops, dry nose, general weakness and obvious weight loss. Later vomit was yellow-green or bloody, and some vomited. Shortly after vomiting, jet diarrhea appeared, which was yellow or grayish yellow at first, with a lot of mucus or false membrane, and then tomato sauce or sorghum rice soup-like feces appeared, with a particularly unpleasant smell. The sick dog was rapidly emaciated and dehydrated, the eye socket collapsed, the skin elasticity decreased, and the capillary refilling time was prolonged. The sick dog quickly dehydrated, emaciated, sunken eyes, messy fur, inelastic skin, cold ears and limbs, high depression and shock and died. The temperature of most sick dogs rises, generally around 40 degrees, and some sick dogs never rise. Sick dogs often die of dehydration, electrolyte disorder and acidosis about 3 days after diarrhea. It generally takes no more than 2 days from mild symptoms to severe symptoms at the initial stage of the disease, and the whole course of the disease generally does not exceed one week.
Symptoms of myocarditis type canine parvovirus: Myocarditis type is more common in puppies of 4-6 weeks old. The sick dog has a sudden onset, and the spirit is still good at the beginning of the onset, often without premonitory symptoms, or only shows mild diarrhea and partial vomiting, and then suddenly weakens and groans with difficulty breathing, showing pale mucosa; Some of them will have cyanosis, walk unsteadily and even have difficulty standing. Highly depressed, want to give up diet, normal or elevated body temperature, endogenous murmur in heart auscultation, and warm rales in some lungs auscultation. Sick dogs often die within hours due to acute heart failure, extremely difficult breathing, fast and weak pulse, and heart auscultation murmur. At present, there is no effective specific treatment for this disease. In order to reduce the mortality of this disease, the following treatment principles are often adopted: hemostasis, antiemesis, diarrhea, adjustment of acid-base balance and rehydration, cardiotonic and control of secondary infection.
Clinically, we should pay attention to whether dogs with canine parvovirus disease have vomiting and diarrhea. If further diagnosis is needed, the diarrhea fluid from sick dogs should be mixed with 0.5% pig red blood cell suspension in proportion at 4℃ or 25℃ to observe its agglutination effect on red blood cells. When necessary, stool samples can also be sent to the inspection unit for electron microscope examination for diagnosis. Repeated frequent vomiting and diarrhea have a special fishy smell, and blood in the stool after severe dehydration.
Symptoms of canine parvovirus should be isolated immediately. In order to prevent sick dog breeders from contacting with sick dogs and healthy dogs, it is necessary to disinfect the kennel and the site repeatedly with 2% caustic soda water or 10 ~ 20% bleaching powder.

If Lz examination shows that the dog is abnormal, you should take the dog to see a doctor immediately. My baby was too young when he was a child, and now he has recovered. In addition, timely and regular vaccination should be given.
Thank you. Good wishes.
