New Zealand design patent application procedure?

1. Submit the application

To apply for a New Zealand appearance patent, the following materials shall be provided to the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office (hereinafter referred to as "IPONZ"):

-Product drawings or pictures (six-sided drawings) showing the design;

-the name of the patent;

-Provide valid identification documents. If the applicant is an institution, a copy of the business license is required; If the applicant is an individual, a copy of personal ID card is required;

-Provide the applicant's name, detailed address, contact information, designer's name and other information.

Generally, IPONZ will issue the application report 15 working days after receiving the application. If it is found that it meets the registration conditions, IPONZ will issue an audit completion report; If there is any problem, IPONZ will issue an audit report to explain the obstacles to registration, and the applicant can go through the modification procedures within 65438+2 months.

2. Authorization and publicity

After the applicant receives the examination report, IPONZ will issue a patent registration certificate to the applicant and file it with the New Zealand Designs Registration Office. This process usually takes six months and will be published in the official journal of IPONZ.

Note: After successful registration, the New Zealand design patent is valid for 15 years (from the date of application), and it needs to be renewed within five years from the date of registration and six months after the expiration of ten years, otherwise the registration will be invalid, but the registered obligee can request to resume the registration within twelve months.
