Shaanxi University of Science and Technology is located in Weiyang University Park, xi City. It is a high-level university focused on during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period in Shaanxi Province, and the only multi-disciplinary university in western China featuring light industry. It was selected as a key university jointly established by Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, China National Light Industry Federation and China Light Industry Group Corporation.
Founded in 1958, the school was named Beijing Institute of Light Industry, which is the first institute of light industry in new China. 1970 moved to Xianyang, Shaanxi, and changed its name to Northwest Institute of Light Industry; 1978 was identified by the State Council as one of the 88 key universities in China; 1998 The school was placed in Shaanxi Province, and the system of joint construction by the central and local governments and local management was implemented. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2002, it was renamed Shaanxi University of Science and Technology; In 2006, the main school moved eastward to Xi 'an.
As of March 20 18, the school has three campuses: Xi 'an Weiyang Campus, Taihua Road Campus and Xianyang Campus, with a total area of 2055 mu and a building area of 1296000 square meters.
