Elmar EMP is a submachine gun developed and produced by Nazi German Arsenal Elmar Arsenal according to the scheme purchased from Heinrich Vollmer of Mao Se Company. It fires 9×19mm Luger pistol bullets.

This submachine gun was produced about 193 1 to 1938 (divided into three first-class caliber types) and exported to Spain, Mexico, China and Yugoslavia, but it was also used by the German SS. It is produced by La Coruna Arsenal, Spain, with the name M4 1/44.

Time shift

In the early 1960s, Vollmer began to develop submachine guns. His early types of VPG, VPGa, VPF and VMP 1925 are very similar to Bergman MP 18. Meanwhile, VMP 1925 is equipped with wooden handles and provided by 25 detachable drums. The Ministry of Defence of Weimar Defence conducted secret tests on VMP 1925 and the competitor plans of Schmeisser and Rheinmetall. Because the Germans secretly sponsored the continuous research and development in Vollmer, VMP 1926 was developed. The biggest difference between VMP 65438 and its predecessor is that the perforated insulation layer wrapped around the barrel can be removed. Subsequently, VMP 1928 was developed, and 32 detachable double-row magazines installed in the left slot were used for ammunition supply. The final development effect of this series is VMP 1930. (This can also be seen in WTS) This type introduces a substantial innovation-elastic main tension spring assembly, which makes the gun safer and easier to disassemble and assemble on site. In 1930, Vollmer applied for his innovation patent, and in 1933, he obtained the patent ID number DRP#580620. His company, Vollmer Arsenal, produced about 400 vehicles, most of which were sold to Bulgaria. However, at the end of 1930, the German Wehrmacht stopped its economic support for Vollmer, so it sold all the planning rights to an arsenal called Elma.

Starting from 1932, the submachine guns sold by Elma in the name of EMP or MPE are basically VMP 1930, but they are modified with its perforated heat shield. Although there are different barrel lengths and sights according to customer requirements, there are generally three primary models: one is 300 mm barrel, ruler camera door and bayonet seat, which are obviously sold to Bulgaria or Yugoslavia. The second type, sometimes called MP34 or "standard type", has a 250 mm barrel, but no bayonet seat; There are some differences between these types of photo gates-some have ruler photo gates, while others are simplified "L" photo gates. The third type is basically similar in the metal part, except that the original front guard wood is replaced by MP 18 style front guard wood with finger grooves. Generally speaking, at least 65,438+00,000 branches of these Vollmer planning boundaries have been produced in Elma. 1936, submachine guns were attacked by the party. Wei. Team selected, but also sold to South American countries and Spain, and in the latter's local production of M4 1/44 name.

1in the spring of 939, a large number of defeated Spanish members fled to France and were disarmed there. The 3,250 EMPs once held by these soldiers ended up in a weapons warehouse in clermont-ferrand. EMP is generally called "Elma-Vollmer" in French literature. The French tested these weapons and decided to choose them to serve their country. It was published in1February 26th, 939, updated in 19401October 6th, and printed in French, and named as "Temporary Selection of Elma-Vollmer submachine gun". However, the French only got 1.540 magazines suitable for this submachine gun, so in fact, as long as 700 to 800 EMPs are distributed to the French equipment forces, the first thing is to equip the mobile gendarmerie forces. After the German conquest of France, some EMPs were equipped to the French anti-Bolshevik Volunteers and eventually became part of the 33rd Charlemagne Grenadier Division (France 1 Division) in Sineitai. 1945 In February, this division was destroyed in East Prussia (now part of Poland). Many EMPs were found near Charlemagne Division in Sineitai during the First World War. During this period, most guns lacked German marks or marks. The German Defence Forces numbered the submachine gun it seized from France as MP740(f).

In Franco's Spain, EMP is produced with a 9× 23mm Bergman-Bayard caliber. It is unofficially called "Koruna submachine gun"

Gun planning

Elma EMP is a submachine gun operated by an open recoil effect bolt, equipped with a reducer, and can choose semi-automatic or full-automatic shooting. It adopts a special locking system and elastic re-entry tension spring guide rod equipment. The standard safety device is a hook-shaped notch above the gun body, which locks the bolt and locks the shooting direction. Some versions are equipped with additional manual safety equipment on the left side of the gun body, behind the magazine slot. The reducer is located on the right side of the stock, above the trigger guard ring, and can shoot semi-automatically or fully automatically. The puller handle is also located on the right side of the spray gun and operates in the guide groove. The magazine slot on the left side of the submachine gun leans forward slightly, which helps to replenish ammunition. The shell throwing opening is on the right.

There is a semi-pistol grip above the wooden support; The "standard type" is also equipped with a pistol-type front grip under the front guard. According to different types, the camera door of the gun is a graduated camera door or an L-shaped camera door, and the former has a maximum aiming range of 800 meters. The periphery of the barrel of the gun is covered by a perforated heat shield, and a bayonet seat is installed above the heat shield.

A feature of this submachine gun is the disassembly bolt located behind the trigger guard ring. In battle, if the user's finger accidentally jumps, the gun will be dismantled immediately, which is a potentially fatal event on the battlefield.

in addition

The last model developed by Elma is called EMP36. This can be considered as an intermediate type between EMP and MP38. Although many details of the mechanism above EMP have been changed, the elastic main operating tension spring assembly in Vollmer planning is still basically unchanged. In appearance, the most obvious difference is that the magazine slot is almost vertical, although it is still slightly inclined to the left and front. The original solid wood gunstock was replaced by a wooden bottom handle and a folding metal tail stock. Although berthold Geipel Limited is usually recorded as its developer, it is not entirely clear who actually planned EMP36. Obviously, the new plan is characterized by the effect of another secret cooperation with the German military bank. However, the elastic cylindrical re-entry tension spring guide rod of EMP remains above MP38.
