Perlisten Audio landed in Germany
"Does the world really need a new speaker brand?" Just last week, Daniel Rowe Roemoer, the founder of Perlisten Audio, and Lars Johnson, his partner, gave the answer: "Yes!"
Last week, the brand celebrated its debut in Germany at Audio Reference, which has taken over the distribution of Perlisten in Germany. The following is the live report of LowBeats.
About Perlisten audio
Answer the most direct question first: Perlisten is a combination of words that are perceived to listen, which translates as "listening attentively". As the saying goes, an attractive name is half the battle, but if this product has no real features, it can't stand in the high-end speaker industry. Due to the epidemic situation, I talked with CSO Lars Johnsen of Perlisten at a small press conference in Hamburg, and had the honor to experience Perlisten's large surround sound system and stereo HiFi system.

Speakers for music, film lovers and professional recording studios.
Perlisten was listed on 202 1 in the United States, China and some European markets. The founder Daniel Roemer is headquartered in the United States, and all the development work is carried out in the United States. Lars Johansen, the company's chief security officer, is Danish. He used to be the sales manager and manager of JBL and Miller Creissel Company.

What was released in Germany this time is Perlisten's S series products (S stands for Statement), including floor speakers, two bookcases, center speakers and surround speakers. These speakers are passive, and the active subwoofer of Perlisten D series also appeared together. The most expensive is S series S7t(T stands for tower). In Germany, the price of each pair is about 20,000 euros (equivalent to about RMB145,000 yuan), and other models are lower than this floor-standing speaker. During the conference, R series products to be released in the spring of 2022 were also announced. R series products will provide most of the performance of S series at a lower price, and the price has not yet been determined.
The core technology of all Perlisten speakers is a medium-high module (DPC array speaker) consisting of three dome speakers.
One of the design concepts of perlisten brand is that in the development process, rigorous parameter measurement is as important as listening test, and both must be done to the extreme. Therefore, Perlisten hopes that its measured values are true and reliable, and will be made public. As a small result, Perlisten became the first speaker brand certified by THX· do Minners, which is not easy for a brand-new company.
Technical characteristics of loudspeaker
As the saying goes, details determine success or failure. Therefore, if you look for unconventional speaker appearance or shell material on Perlisten, it is futile. Perlisten's real strength is not its appearance. One of the most distinctive technologies is the DPC array speaker in the center of the speaker, which is a patented technology. It looks like a traditional metal dome tweeter, located in the groove of the center speaker. It is actually a pure beryllium tweeter. There are two other tweeters at the bottom and top of the beryllium tweeter, which are made of TeXtreme TPCD. Midrange and treble work from the intersection of 1 100Hz, and the frequency band after 4000Hz is completed by beryllium treble alone. The three speakers in the waveguide are arranged by calculation, aiming at guiding the sound to radiate pertinently, reducing the reflection from the floor and ceiling, but maintaining a good sound energy dispersion width in the horizontal direction. The use of dome unit is very beneficial to midrange restoration, because it is lighter and more sensitive than the traditional cone basin. The frequency ranges of dome elements overlap greatly, which is technically difficult to design. Now, a breakthrough in design has been achieved. DPC can ensure extremely low phase offset and reduce distortion.

Lars Johansen said: "The design of frequency divider and its precise directivity control is a very special part of our technology, and we are different from most loudspeaker designs." His words have kept Perlisten mysterious, and it may be possible to integrate more powerful technologies in subsequent designs. The diaphragm of the woofer consists of a composite carbon fiber mixture, TeXtreme, which has been used in aerospace engineering and racing materials. This material is characterized by high strength, low vibration and light weight.
The bass part of the speaker is woven by TeXtreme TPCD.
The sound is impressive.
The demonstration system of audio reference audio room is composed of two S7t floor speakers, one S7c center speaker, four S4s as surround speakers and two D2 12s dual 12 inch push-pull subwoofers. Krell Foundation 4K surround decoder and Dan D'Agostino post amplifier are used.
Perlisten 7.2 surround sound cinema
The Minners-certified Perlisten speaker, the only speaker in the world, will undoubtedly give you a reference level cinema experience. Even if the sound pressure is not too high, the subwoofer still shows great energy, which has surpassed most surround sound systems I have heard. The speaker itself has a very open and transparent playback style and natural timbre, which is a great surround sound combination.
We continued to listen to the HiFi system built by Perlisten in another smaller room. Dual-channel playback is the most intuitive way to feel the characteristics of the speaker. Now we use Dan D'Agostino progressive amplifier to play Perlisten S7t flagship floor speaker. The source of the tracks is Roon and Tidal music, and the D 15s subwoofer in the room is still displayed and does not play.

The amazing transparency in surround sound demonstration is even more impressive in the process of two-channel HiFi appreciation. Perlisten's innovative mid/high frequency module creates a crystal-clear and perfectly focused stage in front of the audience. The high-pitched part never feels harsh, the midrange is relaxed and calm, and the transient response is fast. The bass performance of the floor speaker is excellent. The overall characteristics of S7t can be summarized as clean, crisp and low-frequency stability, which makes drums, violins and other musical instruments very realistic. As far as my taste is concerned, the sound field of the speaker is a bit too deep. Of course, it can be fine-tuned by adjusting the feet of the speaker.
The speaker base is equipped with adjustable feet nails for height adjustment.
Great potential, will be remembered!
The products displayed by Perlisten for the first time make people feel completely unlike what a new company or new product can do. It is very professional in all aspects of performance and all details, and there is no flaw in the early products of any new brand, which is enough to prove the comprehensive strength of brand design and manufacturing.
Very clean, lively and rhythmic playing style, high resolution, is definitely the first choice for professional recording studios. For home theater lovers, Perlisten is the first product in the world to have a full range of Dominus product certification, which is not an easy task and is trustworthy. Stereo HiFi lovers will like this highly plastic and three-dimensional stage presentation, as well as accurate and powerful low-frequency performance, which is very worth having! It remains to be seen whether all these advantages can make Perlisten brand the first choice in consumers' minds, but such preconditions are already in place.
