Mung bean ball is not specifically who invented it. As for its historical origin, mung bean pill is a Shandong dish. There are two main opinions on the specific origin.

1. Shandong Heze Juancheng

Because the main producing area of mung bean pill is Zuoying Township, Juancheng County, it is called Zuo Ying mung bean pill, among which Sun Shi mung bean pill is the most famous. Zuo Ying mung bean pill is a famous food and local specialty with a long history. It has a production history of more than 200 years and was used as a tribute in the Qing Dynasty. At present, the product has registered its trademark, applied for a packaging patent, and its hygienic quality meets the national standards, and it has been rated as a "consumer trustworthy" product by the Consumers Association. Won the "Excellent Award of Heze Region in 1986 Shandong Cuisine Grand Prix", was awarded as a product trusted by consumers in 2002, and was awarded as "Shandong Famous Food" and "Heze Famous Food" for two consecutive years in 2004.

2. Jinan, Shandong

Opinions vary, and the most authentic fried mung bean pills are from Jinan.

In the past, there were many mobile vendors selling midnight snacks in Jinan, and they basically had fixed locations. Vendors selling fried mung bean balls are very popular with people. At one end of their burden is a casserole, and below it is a charcoal stove. Bean sprouts are cooked in hot soup in a pot. Around the pot, there is a circle of wooden boards connected with the burden, and there are many small saucers on it, which contain soy sauce, refined salt, monosodium glutamate, Chili oil, pepper noodles and chopped onion and garlic (or chopped coriander). Bowls and chopsticks, round fried mung bean balls and triangular fried tofu blocks are placed at the other end of the burden. When customers eat, they put 10 fried meatballs in a bowl, some of them want a few pieces of fried tofu, add seasoning, pour boiling hot soup, and finally put a chopstick with bean sprouts, which is delicious. The soup is covered with bright red Chili oil and light green minced garlic, and I often sweat with my own pot stickers or cakes.

The production of fried mung bean balls is very simple: wash the green radish and rub it into thin strips, blanch it with water, squeeze out the water, and add mung bean noodles, refined salt and spiced noodles. And stir evenly.
