Qinhuangdao Campus of Northeast Petroleum University was founded in 1985. 1988, Qinhuangdao branch of Daqing Petroleum Institute was officially listed. On April 1 day, 2065438, the Ministry of Education approved Daqing Petroleum Institute to be renamed Northeast Petroleum University, and Daqing Petroleum Institute Qinhuangdao Branch was renamed Northeast Petroleum University Qinhuangdao Branch. On April 20 1818, the Qinhuangdao Campus of Northeast Petroleum University was renamed as Qinhuangdao Campus of Northeast Petroleum University.
