The patent is invalid and lost

Hargreaves spent much more money on protecting the patent right of his invention and suing illegal manufacturers than he earned from Jenny's textile machine. Regrettably, although a lot of money and energy were invested, we still lost the case. Hargreaves' patent was declared invalid because it proved that he had sold Jenny's spinning machine before receiving the patent certificate. This incident is undoubtedly a heavy blow to Hargreaves.
