RJ Scalinger, CEO of Rivian, recently shared some new ideas about R 1T pickup truck and R 1S SUV in an interview with the automobile publication Drive. In the interview, the CEO discussed Rivian's battery technology, the company's car charging system plan, and his comparison with Tesla CEO elon musk.
Rivian's truck is a luxury pickup truck designed to carry several people in off-road conditions. So the best battery technology is suitable for Rivian. When asked about R 1T and its battery charging ability, the CEO of the company pointed out that all-electric trucks can travel 200 miles in 30 minutes. Scalinger said that it is feasible to meet the cruising range of 400 miles with a 180 kWh battery pack.
If Rivian owners find themselves in remote areas and cannot easily enter the charging station, Scalinger pointed out that the company is developing solutions to enable drivers to charge their vehicles outside the power grid, such as auxiliary battery packs. Scalinger also added that the company will allow vehicles to charge vehicles and allow two Rivian to charge each other.
