The earliest academician in China was born in 1948, and the preparatory work began in 1946. At that time, there were two qualifications for being selected as academicians; On the one hand, those who have made special works, discoveries or contributions in their majors, and on the other hand, those who have presided over academic institutions for more than five years and made outstanding achievements, were notified by Academia Sinica in March 1947 to be divided into mathematical groups (including mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, geosciences and technical sciences) and biological groups (including biology, agronomy, medicine, pharmacy, anthropology and psychology). Of course, it can also be nominated by more than five reviewers. After nomination, the Preparatory Committee will make a preliminary screening and draw up a list of 42 people. Then the Council will examine and approve 15 people as academicians, and finally it will be elected by the Council in March 1948. As a result, 81 people were elected as academicians. In which:
