Chengdu High-tech Zone was established in 1988, and was approved as the first batch of national high-tech zones in 199 1. In 2006, it was designated as a national pilot park by the Ministry of Science and Technology, creating a "world-class high-tech park", and in 20 15, it was approved by the State Council as the first national independent innovation demonstration zone in the west, which is the core area of Sichuan comprehensive innovation reform pilot zone and free trade pilot zone.
In 20 19, Chengdu High-tech Zone achieved a regional GDP of 228.56 billion yuan, up 8.4% year-on-year, becoming the first park in Sichuan Province with a regional GDP exceeding 200 billion yuan.
