The American Science Citation Index (SCI) was founded by the institute for scientific information in Philadelphia in 1957, and it is a citation database created and published by institute for scientific information (ISI)1961+0.
SCI is divided into SCI and SCI-E according to the number of source journals. SCI refers to SCI print edition and SCI CD-ROM edition (SCI CDE), with more than 3,500 source periodicals. SCI-E(SCI extended) is an extended library of SCI, which contains more than 5,600 source periodicals and can be searched online or on the Internet.
SCI covers more than 100 disciplines, mainly involving agriculture, biology and environmental science; Engineering technology and applied science; Medicine and life sciences; Physics and chemistry; Behavioral science.
2, social science citation index
SCI's companion, Social Science Citation Index, was also founded by institute for scientific information. It is a large-scale retrieval tool, which can be used to analyze the number of social science papers in different countries and regions.
1999 SSCI contains 1809 kinds of the most important social science journals in the world, covering 55 fields such as anthropology, law, economics, history, geography and psychology.
The types of documents collected include: research papers, book reviews, special discussions, editorials, autobiographies, letters, etc. It selectively covers 1300 journals.
Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) includes 2684 social science journals (as of June 9, 2009), and also includes papers related to social science research in journals included in SCIE.
3. Index of Proceedings of Science and Technology Conference
Scientific index &; Journal of Technology (ISTP) was founded in 1978 and edited and published by institute for scientific information, USA.
The index includes conference documents of life science, physical and chemical science, agriculture, biology and environmental science, engineering technology and applied science, including general conferences, symposiums, research conferences, seminars and conferences. Among them, the literature of engineering technology and applied science accounts for about 35%, and other related disciplines are basically the same as SCI.
