Precautions for using passports:

1. Notes page you ignored.

Although you may have had a passport for a long time, or even stamped with an immigration stamp, I'm afraid you haven't noticed the remarks page of your passport (Nani? What the hell is the notebook page). What's the use of the notes page (for the sake of good)?

In fact, it is to supplement relevant information to the issuing authority or the embassy or consulate, inspection authority, etc. For example, the passport needs to be replaced when it expires, the passport needs to be reissued when it is lost, and the name of the holder needs to be changed. At this time, the entry-exit agency or the embassy or consulate will add relevant remarks on the remarks page of the passport.

Special note: in principle, visas cannot be posted on the remarks page.

However, there are opportunities for unexpected situations. For example, wayward border inspectors occasionally stamp entry and exit stamps on the remarks page (how wayward this is).

Embassies and consulates in some popular tourist destinations have to deal with hundreds of passport stickers every day, and the order of visa pages and remarks pages of passports in different countries is not the same. The visa officer may also post the visa in a hurry on the remarks page (Uncle Border Inspection is very wronged: I didn't mean to).

Don't panic if you encounter the above two situations. In fact, both visas and passports can be used normally.

2. Count your blank pages

When you apply for a visa from another country, you are likely to encounter the requirement that your passport must have X (continuous) blank pages (really troublesome). What is this "blank page"? Generally speaking, for embassies and consulates, "blank pages" means that a single visa page cannot have any traces of entry and exit stamps, labels and staples (staples are not allowed);

"Two consecutive blank pages" means that the page numbers of the two blank visa pages on the passport that meet the above requirements must be consecutive (and so on)!

Note again: If you buy something in the mall, the cashier will nail the charge slip and tax refund slip to the visa page and stamp it with a riding seal. When the bill is torn off, half of the seal will be left on the visa page of your passport.

This visa page can't be considered "blank" (so strict), but the border inspection can still stamp the entry and exit stamp on it.

As mentioned above, the important use of blank pages is gone. Generally speaking, if the destination country is on the list of landing visa, visa-free and electronic visa release, and the documents and materials presented by travelers (such as printed electronic visas) meet the requirements, as long as there is enough space on the passport visa page for the destination country to stamp the entry and exit stamp, the domestic border inspection will choose to release (take a long breath).

Don't worry, because there may be inconsistent customs clearance standards, so it is best to call the border inspection at the exit port to confirm before departure.

If you leave the country from other countries (such as Hong Kong), the border inspection may check the blank pages of your passport before you leave the country. Even if the destination is a visa-free country, the passport still needs to be stamped when entering or leaving the country, so the border inspection at the departure point is likely to require at least one blank page in the passport, and travelers who do not meet the requirements may be refused to leave the country (blank pages are more important than you think).
