The patent of "Star of Life" originally belonged to American Medical Organization (AMA) (1967), and was later "transferred" to NHTSA, which became the symbol of its subordinate emergency service organization (EMS). Dawson Mills of DOT asked the American Red Cross to provide the EMSS ambulance with the Red Cross logo, but it was rejected.
Later, Mills asked "Dirk" Farrington of AMA if he could provide "Star of Life", and he was approved. Hexagonal star is named after Leo R. Schwartz. The Star of Life was registered as a safeguard symbol on February 1977.
In September 2006, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department added a star of life to the ambulance body. In Taiwan Province Province, the ambulance technicians of the fire brigade will wear clothes with the Star of Life printed on the bottom and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), and the same pattern will be found on ambulances.

Red cross sign
At present, the red cross symbols commonly used all over the world include the red cross symbol on white background, the red crescent symbol and the red crystal symbol.
The sign of the Red Cross on a white background was adopted by the first Geneva Convention signed in 1864, and was first used in the Battle of Gerlesuig between Prussia and Denmark in 1864. As a protective sign for personnel participating in wartime medical rescue activities. The symbol opposite to the color of the Swiss flag is used to pay tribute to Switzerland, the birthplace of the Red Cross Movement, and has no political, religious or other significance.
1876 During the Russian-Turkish War, Turkey claimed that the Red Cross symbol violated the religious beliefs of its soldiers and adopted the Red Crescent symbol to mark its ambulances.
1899, Iran proposed to use the red lion and the sun as protection symbols (1979 announced the replacement of the red moon symbol). Based on the above situation, the Geneva Convention adopted by the 1929 Diplomatic Conference clearly reaffirmed that the Red Cross symbol is not religious, and officially recognized that the Red Crescent, the red lion and the sun symbol have legal effect, but only in countries that adopt the symbol.
