The substance that produces spicy taste in edible pepper fruits is called capsaicin, its English name is Capsaicinoids, CAS No.: 404-86-4. Capsaicin is composed of 14 kinds of capsaicin compounds, the main ones are: capsaicin [chemical name is (trans) 8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide, molecular weight is 305.4, molecular formula C18H27NO3, English name is: Capsaicin], and dihydrocapsaicin (chemical name is 8-methyl-N-vanillyl nonanamide, molecular weight is 307.4, molecular formula C18H29NO3, English name is: Dihydrocapsaicin).
The domestically produced capsaicin crystals are natural products produced using edible natural chili fruits as raw materials and using patented technology with independent intellectual property rights. The products are white or light yellow needle-shaped crystals, and the capsaicin in the product The total content is 95, including: capsaicin gt; 60, dihydrocapsaicin gt; 20, other capsaicin compounds lt; 10, the melting point range is 57~66°C, but the melting range temperature range is less than 5°C, ash content lt; 1.0, moisture content <1.0, no organic solvent residues in the product. The quality of its products fully complies with the standards stipulated in the United States Pharmacopoeia [Volume 24 (1999 edition), Volume 25 (2001 edition), Volume 26 (2003 edition), and Volume 27 (2004 edition)]. At present, a production line with an annual output of 1,500 kilograms of capsaicin crystals has been built and put into normal production.
Capsaicin is the main component of capsaicin crystals. Domestically, we have successfully isolated capsaicin crystals with a single component of molecular weight 305.4 from our own natural capsaicin crystals. The product is white needle-shaped crystals with a capsaicin content of ≥97.
Uses of capsaicin crystals
Capsaicin has strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has confirmed that it has found no evidence that capsaicin is harmful to humans. It is mainly used in the production of single or compound ointments and other preparations, and is widely used to treat diseases such as arthritis, muscle pain, back pain, sports sprains and post-herpetic neuralgia.
Non-toxic bio-antifouling paint made with capsaicin as an active ingredient that prevents the adhesion of marine organisms is widely used on marine ships to prevent the adhesion of marine organisms and ensure the normal navigation of ships in the ocean. It can be widely used in thermal power plants, nuclear power plants and other equipment in coastal areas that require large amounts of seawater for heat exchange to prevent marine organisms from clogging the water inlet pipes.
Capsaicin, as a pest repellent, has been used to manufacture functional plastic granules and coatings that are anti-termite and anti-rat for use in the cable, underground construction and civil furniture manufacturing industries.
