Types of pottery?

1. Red pottery

Red pottery is a kind of red pottery that appeared in the Neolithic Age. Its firing principle is: when the pottery is baked in the kiln, oxidizing flame is used to convert the iron in the pottery into ferric iron, and the surface of the pottery becomes red. According to the thickness of the pottery body and whether it contains sand, it can be divided into muddy red pottery and sand-filled red pottery. Peiligang Culture, Yangshao Culture, Majiabang Culture, etc. are all dominated by red pottery.

2. Stamped pottery

Chinese pottery with stamped patterns from the late Neolithic Age to the Han Dynasty. On the finished pottery, use a stamp to stamp the desired pattern on the predetermined position before it is dry, and then fire it.

3. White pottery

White pottery refers to a kind of plain pottery that is white both inside and outside. It uses porcelain clay and kaolin as pottery raw materials, and the firing temperature is about 1000 degrees. White pottery is basically handmade, and later it will gradually adopt clay strip making and wheel making. There are not many types of utensils, including 鬹, 笉, jue, dou, bowl, lei, pot, 卣, 酯, etc. White pottery has been found in the late Longshan Culture and early Erlitou Culture sites in western Henan and Henan.

4. Black pottery

Black pottery was born in China’s Neolithic Age. It is an ancient Chinese pottery making technique that is as black as lacquer, as loud as a sound, as thin as paper, and as bright as a mirror. The reputation of being as hard as porcelain. Because black pottery is the main feature, it is also called "black pottery culture". Black pottery can be divided into three types according to texture: clay black pottery, sand-filled black pottery, and fine mud black pottery.

5. Painted pottery

Painted pottery: also known as ceramic painting, it is my country's long-standing "national quintessence" - an art among ceramic arts. It dates back to about 7,000 years ago. During the Banpo Culture period, the earliest painted paintings appeared on pottery. The works on porcelain are more intense than those on paper. The art of painted pottery integrates the artist's various creative ideas, styles, and languages, creating different and colorful art treasures, which are rare cultural treasures in our country.
