Regular cleaning, polishing and protection are all tasks that need attention.
For bamboo cages, you can use clean water and detergent to scrub them thoroughly (it is not easy to use a hard brush). Finally, soak the entire cage in boiled salt water and then rinse it with clean water. Place it in a cool and ventilated place and blow dry. Then apply a protective layer, which must meet the following conditions: non-toxic, odorless, colorless, dust-free, thick and easy-drying oil. Apply oil once, dry it thoroughly and apply it again, then place it in a shaded and ventilated place to air dry.
When the second coat of oil is almost dry, sand it carefully with high-grit metallographic sandpaper. After polishing, wipe the whole cage with oil cloth and put it aside (it is best to lay it flat, do not hang it). (Put it in a room without sunlight) Just wipe it with a cloth every once in a while.
The purpose of maintaining the new cage:
1. To ensure that the bamboo will not deform the birdcage or crack the joints due to changes in external moisture and temperature.
2. Keep the surface of the birdcage smooth and clean, free of mildew, black lines, etc., and the surface of the birdcage will develop a reddish-brown luster after a period of time.
3. Maintain the toughness of bamboo to ensure the birdcage is strong and durable.
4. Prevent insect infestation. Selected maintenance agent: silicone oil, homemade wax (main ingredients palm wax, beeswax, wood wax, etc.)
Silicon oil has excellent high and low temperature resistance, low freezing point, small viscosity-temperature coefficient, large compression rate, and surface Low tension, good water and moisture resistance, and chemical stability. Due to the above characteristics of silicone oil, using silicone oil to maintain bamboo can effectively lock and replace part of the moisture, effectively preventing the bamboo rings from deforming and exploding due to excessive moisture loss or temperature changes, and the bamboo's toughness is reduced and easy to break, etc. Something wrong. Moreover, silicone oil is liquid and can produce a better hair suction effect when it comes into contact with the pores on the surface of bamboo, thereby quickly penetrating into the interior of the bamboo and maintaining bambooware from the inside.
Homemade wax (palm wax, beeswax, wood wax): main ingredients: wax esters, free fatty acids, fatty acid glycerides, free fatty alcohols and hydrocarbons. It has adhesion, friction, slippery, film-forming and waterproof, moisture-proof and oxidative deterioration resistance. It is mainly used to apply on the surface of bamboo utensils to polish the surface of the utensils, waterproof and moisture-proof, prevent mildew, and prevent drying and cracking.
Generally, you can use the wax used to maintain wooden furniture. It is not recommended to use Bilizhu. The reason is: Bilizhu, as a fast-food maintenance tool, is convenient and easy to use. Its main component is silicone oil. Strictly speaking, it can only be regarded as "spray oil" and cannot be called spray wax. Therefore, the maintenance effect is far inferior to that of solid wax. General furniture maintenance wax can be used to maintain cages. If you can't find wax for furniture maintenance, use floor wax instead.
