In 870, Zong Yi's daughter, Princess Tongchang, who was regarded as a treasure, died of a strange disease at the age of seventeen. Wei Baoheng, the mother-in-law, in order not to let the emperor take it out on herself, framed the physician for not having a good life to treat the princess, which delayed her illness and harmed her life. Hearing this, Li Sui, who cried for land, immediately "killed more than 20 people, including Han Zongshao, a medical officer of Hanlin, and learned that more than 300 of his relatives were in Jingzhao Prison".
Wei Baoheng even encouraged the emperor to demote or execute more than 30 officials, big and small, who had been at odds with him, insisting that they communicated with the physician out of jealousy and killed Princess Tongchang with drugs. The people who were hit by the accident even included a number of senior officials such as the Prime Minister: Liu Zhan, the Prime Minister, was demoted, Jing He committed suicide by taking poison, and more than a dozen officials were implicated.
Of course, this is an extreme situation. In fact, first of all, ancient doctors were very capable of self-protection, so that "there are six incurable diseases." It is clearly recorded in Historical Records: First, "arrogance ignores reason", and the so-called "arrogance" refers to arrogance, distrust of doctors, egoism and no way to reason; Second, "light body and heavy wealth", only pay attention to money, not health; Third, "inappropriate food and clothing" refers to people who are too picky about clothes and diet and can't adapt; The fourth type is "Yin and Yang are combined into one, and the dirty qi is uncertain", which refers to people with qi and blood disorder and severe visceral failure in the body; The fifth is "the body can't take medicine", which means that some people are extremely weak, unable to take medicine or can't take medicine; Sixth, "believing in witches but not doctors", only believing in ghosts and witchcraft and not doctors.
Doctors in the Han Dynasty also summarized the "four difficulties" in diagnosing diseases, which came from the mouth of Guo Yuzhi, a doctor in the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. Guo Yu was ordered to treat the nobles in the palace, but the effect was not good, and he was angrily heckled by the emperor. Guo Yu recalled that there are "four difficulties" in the treatment of doctors: the first difficulty is that patients are stubborn, only believe in themselves and do not believe in doctors; The second difficulty is to "take care of yourself", take yourself seriously, and ask for money instead of life; The third difficulty is that the patient is too weak to take medicine; The fourth difficulty is that patients are lazy, hate work, and can't follow the doctor's requirements, which is what we now call not following the doctor's advice.
Secondly, the ancient dynasty government had a strict doctor assessment system and a mature doctor-patient dispute mediation mechanism. Li Zhou has a clear doctor assessment system: "At the end of the year, we should check their medical affairs and take care of their meals: perfect and best, one tenth, two tenths, three tenths and four tenths." In other words, doctors are assessed at the end of each year, and the assessment results are linked to wages. Nature without mistakes is the best, and then score according to the error rate.
Accordingly, once a medical accident occurs, the doctor will not bear direct responsibility except for affecting the treatment. It was not until the Tang Dynasty thousands of years later that there were provisions on the punishment of responsible doctors: those who died of medical accidents were sentenced to exile; Hurt people, with intentional injury theory; Although it doesn't hurt people, as long as there is a fault, the staff should be blamed.
There is a provision in the laws of the Qing Dynasty that punishes "quack doctors for killing people". "Any quack who uses medicine and acupuncture for the people is not as good as his own, so he dies, so he should be ordered to ask another doctor." It means that if the prescription prescribed by the National Pharmacopoeia is not prescribed, resulting in death, other doctors who are not interested in the parties should be invited to examine it to determine whether the prescription is reasonable or not.
The punishment of the Qing law for the responsible doctor is "if there is no reason, the theory of manslaughter, according to the law to redeem their families, not to practice medicine." That is, revocation of medical license and economic compensation. More serious punishment, such as taking a minor illness seriously, or even deliberately poisoning drugs to kill people, the former is regarded as "stealing", while the latter is "decapitation in prison" and decapitation.
No matter what methods and measures are taken, they are actually passive. The problem itself is not a problem, but solving it is the key. This hidden danger relationship reflects that there is no one else in our hearts and we are all self-centered. In fact, as long as we put ourselves in the shoes, all the problems will be solved. So, let's be more tolerant and understanding, and let the doctor-patient relationship exist in the world in a sunny, healthy and warm way.
