NSA directly uses the existing 4G network, upgrades it, and then adds some 5G devices on the original basis, which is low in cost and allows users to experience the ultra-high network speed of 5G in advance. SA can support a variety of network slicing, which brings high speed and low latency that NSA mode can't cover, and compared with NSA, SA can make our mobile phone consume less power because it doesn't need to access two systems at the same time.
Generally speaking, although NSA saves money, its configuration is troublesome and there are still many defects. SA is expensive but easy to use. From the operator's point of view, NSA (non-independent networking) can be regarded as a transitional scheme in the early stage of 5G, while SA (independent networking) is the ultimate subject of 5G. But not all operators can afford SA. At this time, the 3GPP organization has designed many "network-dependent" methods.

1, option 3: data is diverted from the 4G base station. 4G is not only responsible for control and management, but also for dividing the data from the core network into two paths, one of which is sent to the mobile phone by itself, and the other is diverted to 5G to send to the mobile phone, which requires high processing capacity on the side of 4G base station, and the user plane is anchored on the side of 4G base station, which can reduce the interruption of the user plane caused by mobility.
2. Scheme 3a: 4G core network directly distributes data to 4G and 5G base stations, which can only be distributed based on bearer, and can't perceive the service pressure of 4G and 5G base stations, and can't be adjusted according to the wireless environment, which affects the user experience.
3. Scheme 3x: The data is diverted from the 5G base station side, which has no influence on the 4G base station side. It only needs to increase the layout of 5G base stations on the basis of the original 4G network, which avoids making too many changes to the 4G base stations and 4G core networks that are already in operation. Therefore, it becomes the first choice for the deployment of 5G non-independent networking and is widely used by operators.
