The National Southern Research Center for Human Genome is a new scientific research institution, which is initiated and established by scientific research units in related fields in Shanghai. It is to carry out research and application development on human genome in order to realize the national scientific research plan.
Since its establishment, the Center has undertaken and participated in more than 8 major projects, such as human genome sequencing, rice chromosome 4 sequencing, chimpanzee chromosome 22 sequencing, Schistosoma japonicum genome sequencing, functional genome and biochip, protein omics research on major human diseases, etc. It has published more than 1 papers in international authoritative academic journals, applied for nearly 5 patents, and won 22 national and Shanghai awards.
The Center will carry out extensive domestic and international cooperation, actively introduce outstanding talents and technologies from abroad, and pay special attention to attracting professionals who have achieved success in overseas studies to participate in the human genome research in China. At the same time, timely cooperate with domestic and foreign enterprises to promote the industrialization of scientific research results. The establishment and development of the National Southern Research Center for Human Genome will surely make its due contribution to the research of genome science and biomedicine in China.
