The 10th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th NPC decided to make the following amendments to the provisions in the General Principles of Civil Law that obviously do not meet the requirements of socialist market economy and social development:
Article 7 of General Principles of Civil Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) and General Principles of Civil Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) is amended as: "Civil activities shall respect social morality and shall not harm public interests or disturb social and economic order."
Delete Item 6 of Paragraph 1 of Article 58: "The economic contract violates the mandatory plan of the state".

The laws of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the state regulate the property relations and personal relations between citizens and legal persons and between citizens and legal persons as equal subjects. The parties have equal status in civil activities.
Civil activities should follow the principles of voluntariness, fairness, equal compensation, honesty and credibility. The lawful civil rights and interests of citizens and legal persons are protected by law, and no organization or individual may infringe upon them.
Civil activities must abide by the law, and if there are no provisions in the law, they should abide by national policies. Civil activities shall respect social morality and shall not harm public interests or disturb social and economic order.
Civil activities within the territory of People's Republic of China (PRC) shall be governed by the laws of People's Republic of China (PRC), unless otherwise provided by law. Foreigners and stateless persons within the territory of People's Republic of China (PRC) shall apply the provisions of the Civil Law on citizens, unless otherwise provided by law.
