The Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences was formerly known as the Gansu Provincial Agricultural Improvement Institute, which was founded in 1938. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Gansu Provincial Agricultural Experimental Field was established in 1952, and the Gansu Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences was established in October 1958. In 2006, with the approval of the provincial government, it was determined to be a public welfare institution directly under the provincial government and implemented a provincial first-level budget. The management organization has 7 functional offices, as well as the Discipline Inspection Commission, the Labor Union and the Logistics Service Center. The research institution has 13 professional research institutes, 3 professional test stations and 3 test fields outside Lanzhou. There are a national Class A qualification engineering consulting center, a national association-level green agriculture Lanzhou Research Center, a provincial engineering technology research center and a postdoctoral research workstation, and two key field scientific observation and experimental stations of the Ministry of Agriculture. There are 10 comprehensive experimental stations and more than 30 rural experimental demonstration bases in different ecological zones across the province.
The main research areas include: crop germplasm resource innovation and new variety breeding, high-yield, high-quality and efficient cultivation of major crops, sustainable development of regional agriculture (dry farming and water conservation, ecological environment construction), soil fertilizer and conservation Water agriculture, disaster laws and comprehensive control of pests, diseases, and weeds, agricultural biotechnology, fruits and flowers, storage and processing of agricultural products, facility agriculture, improvement of livestock and grass varieties, green agriculture, inspection and monitoring of pollution-free agricultural products, and agricultural engineering consulting and design, etc.
The hospital currently has 1,811 employees, 928 of whom are on-the-job, including 666 professional and technical personnel, 191 senior researchers, 213 intermediate researchers, 262 junior researchers, 52 with doctorates, and masters. 112 people.
