Soochow University:
The Department of Medicine was established by Soochow University in early 2008 from the departments of the School of Medicine and the School of Life Sciences, the School of Radiation Medicine and Public Health, and the School of Pharmacy. The Department of Medicine is the entity unit responsible for the school’s medical and life science education management. The Ministry of Medicine currently has 3 national key disciplines: Internal Medicine (hematology), Radiation Medicine, and Surgery (Orthopedics); 2 Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense key disciplines: Radiation Medicine, Internal Medicine (Hematology) disease); 6 provincial 135 key medical disciplines. The department has 17 scientific research institutions including the Jiangsu Provincial Blood Research Institute, the Jiangsu-Hong Kong Cooperation Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute, the Nuclear Accident Medical Emergency Center, the Sericulture Research Institute, the Fisheries Research Institute, and the New Drug Research and Development Center. In the past three years, the Department of Medicine has won 1 second prize for national scientific and technological achievements, undertaken 108 projects of various types at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, won 19 scientific and technological progress awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, published 241 SCI papers, and granted 17 patents. Currently, There are 3 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, 5 Suzhou key laboratories, and 2 school-level scientific research and innovation teams.
