Olympic charter

the Olympic charter, also known as the Olympic constitution or rules, is the general constitution formulated by the international Olympic Committee for the development of the Olympic movement. The first constitution was initiated and formulated by Coubertin. It was officially adopted at the Paris International Sports Conference in June, 1894. The main contents are the basic purposes and principles of the Olympic Movement, as well as the related matters of holding the Olympic Games. In 1989, the Chinese version of the Olympic Charter was published in China. The current Olympic Charter was adopted by the 125th Plenary Session of the International Olympic Committee in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in September 213 and came into effect on September 9, 213.

Contents of the Charter:

Expounded the purpose of the Olympic Movement, determined the goals of the Olympic Movement, and stipulated the development direction of the Olympic Movement;

defines some important concepts such as Olympism and Olympic spirit, and lays the ideological foundation for the Olympic movement to achieve its goals;

the organizational system of the Olympic movement is fixed in the form of legal provisions, and the respective positions, functions, tasks and relationships of all members of the Olympic family, especially the three pillars (namely, the International Olympic Committee, the National Olympic Committee and the International Single Sports Federation) in this movement are clearly stated and stipulated, which not only ensures their independence, but also links them with each other to form a complete functional system, thus providing an organizational foundation commensurate with the Olympic movement. The basic contents of the Olympic movement are defined, such as the Olympic Games, mass sports activities and Olympic education and cultural activities.

The first Olympic Charter was drafted by P. Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Movement, and approved by the International Sports Congress held in Paris in 1894. On June 23rd of the same year, the International Olympic Committee was established. In the past century, although the Olympic Charter has been revised and supplemented many times, the basic principles and Olympic spirit put forward by P. Coubertin have never changed.

The p>1999 edition of the Olympic Charter consists of basic principles and the Olympic Movement.

Chapter 1: The contents include the supreme power of the Olympic movement, the scope of the movement and the role of the International Olympic Committee.

Chapter 2: The contents include the legal status of the International Olympic Committee, the qualifications and formation of its members, etc.

Chapter 3: The content includes the recognition of the International Sports Federation by the International Olympic Committee and the role of the International Sports Federation.

Chapter 4: The contents include the mission, role, composition and relationship with individual sports organizations in China.

Chapter 5: The contents include the organization and management of the Olympic Games, the selection of the Olympic City, the conditions and events of the Olympic Games, cultural programs, the establishment and etiquette of the Olympic Village, etc.
