On March 2nd, the Road Test Report of Self-driving Vehicles in Beijing (20 19) (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Report") was officially released. Beijing Report is an autopilot road test report released by China. Compared with the report of automatic driving separation issued by California Motor Vehicle Administration (DMV), it can better reflect the actual situation of domestic automatic driving development.
According to Beijing's report, in 20 19, 73 self-driving cars from 13 enterprises (Beiqi New Energy did not deploy test vehicles) participated in the road test in Beijing. Among them, with 52 vehicles and 754,000 kilometers of new test mileage, Baidu became the enterprise with the largest number of tests and the largest test mileage in that year.
Interestingly, Baidu, which is far ahead of Beijing Road Test, also won MPD(Miles? Per? Leave the first place on the list. Beijing and California have great differences in statistical standards and road conditions of road test, and both of them can achieve good results in the two reports, which also shows that Baidu is in a leading position in the field of autonomous driving at home and abroad.
1. Beijing 20 19 road test report released? The test mileage is nearly 890,000 kilometers
Beijing Intelligent Vehicle Association Industrial Innovation Center, a third-party service organization for road testing of self-driving vehicles in Beijing, officially released the Report on Road Testing of Self-driving Vehicles in Beijing (20 19) today (hereinafter referred to as the Beijing Report). It is understood that this report is also the only official automatic driving road test report in China.
The report summarizes the progress made in Beijing's autonomous driving test policies, standards, environment and services in 20 19 years, and also discloses the autonomous driving test carried out by 13 enterprises in Beijing.
On the whole, Beijing's autonomous driving policies and standards are constantly iterating and improving. By the end of 20 19, three closed test sites have been built in Beijing, and a total of 503.68 kilometers of self-driving test roads 15 1 have been opened, which can provide a test environment for different self-driving vehicles.
In terms of enterprise road test, the report shows that in 20 19 years, 73 vehicles from 13 enterprises (Beiqi New Energy did not deploy test vehicles) participated in the general road test of self-driving vehicles in Beijing, with a total mileage of 886,600 kilometers. As of 20 19, 12 and 3 1, the mileage of related enterprises in Beijing Road has reached/kloc-0.04 million kilometers.

Among them, in 20 19, Baidu was far ahead in testing total mileage and testing geographical coverage. This year, 52 test vehicles of Baidu completed 754,000 kilometers of road tests in Beijing. Ma Xiao Zhixing * * * deployed 5 vehicles, and the road test mileage in 2065438+2009 was11.120,000 km, ranking second.
In fact, according to the report, Baidu is the only company that has achieved coverage of all sections of R 1-R4 and RX (with V2X equipment deployed to support vehicle road system testing).

Second, the comparison between China and the United States? Beijing reports are more authoritative.
Shortly before the release of the Beijing report, the California Motor Vehicle Administration (DMV) also released the "20 19 Autopilot Disengagement Report" on February 27th, Beijing time. Fifty-eight companies submitted their annual road test reports in California to DMV, and 33 of them had road test data.
There are two key data in the DMV report, namely, the mileage and disengagement of self-driving vehicles. In addition, another key indicator MPD (miles? Per? Disengage).
MPD means how many kilometers a self-driving car needs to travel to get involved. Generally, MPD is regarded as the most intuitive indicator to measure the "driving level" of self-driving cars.
However, it should be noted that MPD also has some problems. Companies that submit reports to the DMV will formulate takeover standards and statistical standards according to their own conditions, and it is difficult to unify different standards. On the other hand, since self-driving cars will be tested under different road conditions, it is inevitably unfair to simply take MPD as the basis for measuring a company's self-driving level.
In this case, the analysis given in the Beijing report has high reference value for domestic autonomous driving enterprises.
Different from the DMV report, which treats all road conditions equally, the Beijing report introduces the actual test situation of enterprises in closed test sites and open roads according to different test scenarios.
The report shows that in the closed test site environment, in addition to the basic test contents such as vehicle perception performance test and reliability test, there are also two contents: special ability evaluation test and comprehensive ability evaluation test.
Among them, the special ability evaluation test is based on avoiding the actual road conditions such as stationary vehicles and obstacles, and testing the self-driving vehicles one by one, so as to better verify the driving ability of self-driving vehicles in specific scenes.

Comprehensive ability test can be simply understood as a series of individual specific ability tests conducted randomly, which can more truly reflect the ability and stability of autonomous vehicles to continuously perform driving tasks.
At the same time, for the open road test scenario, the Beijing report will not only make statistics and analysis on the road test mileage of various enterprises, the types and reasons of self-driving cars, but also make statistics on the deployment of test enterprises on different grades of roads.
On the whole, the Beijing report highlights the scene factors and is more suitable for measuring the development level of the autonomous driving industry. On the other hand, since the Beijing report is issued by a third-party organization rather than an individual application, its objectivity will be higher than that of the DMV report.
Third, two consecutive "firsts"? Baidu autopilot continues to lead.
Baidu is the leader in the field of autonomous driving in China, and even won the championship in the Beijing report released today. At the same time, Baidu also surpassed Waymo in the recently released DMV report and won the first place in the MPD list.
In 20 19, compared with 20 18, Baidu's road test mileage in California increased nearly six times, reaching more than 654.38+million miles (about174,200 kilometers), and the MPD value also soared to 18050.03 miles (about 29,000 kilometers) This means that Baidu's self-driving cars in California road test only need to intervene once every 29,000 kilometers.
The results of the DMV report depend on the awareness of the enterprise. In contrast, the Beijing Report is more in line with China's national conditions and emphasizes technical standards. Baidu can achieve the "first place" in the two reports, and its hard power in autonomous driving is self-evident.
It is understood that Baidu Apollo has now formed a business framework of intelligent transportation, autonomous driving, and car networking to cooperate and support each other. By the end of 20 19, 12 and 18, Apollo * * * had 150 license plates for driving test, and road tests were carried out in 23 cities around the world, with a cumulative test mileage of more than 3 million kilometers, and 237 new patents were added throughout the year.
At the same time, Baidu Apollo autopilot platform was also updated to version 5.5 on 20 19. Developers are based on Apollo? 5.5, can quickly build a variety of self-driving vehicles such as unmanned taxis, unmanned buses, and low-speed unmanned connecting vehicles driving in cities.
Conclusion:? Baidu continues to shine? Forced automatic driving
Baidu is the earliest enterprise in China to deploy autonomous driving and has always been the leader in the development of autonomous driving in China. In 20 19, Baidu achieved multi-line flowering in driving test of self-driving cars, ecological construction, platform release and other aspects. Now winning the championship in the Beijing report also proves Baidu's autonomous driving strength to some extent.
At the same time, Baidu won the first MPD in the DMV report, which also shows that Baidu is not only in the leading position in the domestic autonomous driving field, but also in the first echelon in the world.
I believe that in the future, with Baidu accelerating the industry innovation of empowering autonomous driving, the pace of development of domestic autonomous driving will be further accelerated.
