China Academy of Water Resources and Hydropower Research is a public welfare research institution engaged in scientific research of water resources and hydropower, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Water Resources of People's Republic of China (PRC). The headquarters of the hospital consists of two courtyards in Haidian District, Beijing, as well as Daxing Experimental Base and Yanqing Experimental Base. The history of our hospital can be traced back to 1933. Its predecessor was the earliest water conservancy scientific research institution in China-China No.1 Water Conservancy Laboratory. After several changes, on 1958, with the approval of the the State Council Planning Commission, a number of units merged to form the Water Conservancy and Hydropower Research Institute. 1994 was renamed as China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research with the approval of the State Science and Technology Commission.

After more than 50 years of development, our institute has built a national comprehensive scientific research and technology development center for water conservancy and hydropower with complete disciplines and obvious talent advantages. Our institute has 1 international center as a joint research center for water-saving irrigation between China and the United States. The four national centers are Beijing Water-saving Irrigation Engineering Technology Research Center, National Agricultural Irrigation and Drainage Equipment Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, National Hydropower Sustainable Development Research Center and National Energy and Water Efficient Utilization and Dam Safety Technology Research and Development Center. Over the years, our institute has undertaken a large number of national key scientific and technological research projects and provincial and ministerial key scientific research projects, undertaken research tasks on almost all key technical issues of major water conservancy and hydropower projects in China, and carried out a series of scientific research work such as engineering technical consultation, evaluation and technical services at home and abroad.
