Development prospect of nano-generator

The American Science reported that Wang Zhonglin, a professor at Georgia Institute of Technology and overseas director of China National Nanoscience Center, successfully converted mechanical energy into electrical energy on the nanometer scale, and successfully developed a nanogenerator for the first time in the world. Wang Zhonglin, who is in Beijing, said in an interview with Science Times, "This is my most exciting invention in this research field 10 years." He believes that this is the most exciting and important discovery in the international nano-field, which will surely cause a huge upsurge in the research of nano-power supply in the whole nano-academic community.

As the Chairman Professor of the Board of Directors of Georgia Institute of Technology and the Distinguished Chairman Professor of the Institute of Technology, Wang Zhonglin is also the head of the Department of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology of Peking University Institute of Technology and the overseas director of China National Nanoscience Center. This work was completed by him and doctoral student Song Jinhui.

Wang Zhonglin realized that zinc oxide has unique semiconductor, optical and biological characteristics and irreplaceable functions of other nano-materials. Therefore, his research group has been committed to the synthesis and application of nano-materials based on zinc oxide. In 200 1 year, they reported the synthesis of zinc oxide semiconductor material tape for the first time in Science magazine, and this paper has been cited 1 100 times. Later, they developed devices such as nanorings and nanospirals.

Wang Zhonglin believes that nano-generators will be widely used in biomedicine, military affairs, wireless communication and wireless sensing. He said: "This invention can integrate nano-devices, realize a real nano-system, and collect mechanical energy, such as energy generated by human movement and muscle contraction; Vibration energy, such as energy generated by sound waves and ultrasonic waves; Fluid energy, such as body fluid flow, blood flow and arterial contraction, is converted into electrical energy and provided to nano devices. The electric energy generated by this nano-generator is enough to supply nano-devices or systems, so that no nano-device or nano-robot can achieve energy self-sufficiency. "

The shoes are equipped with nano-generators, so people can charge their mobile phones or MP3 players while walking. In the near future, this is expected to become a reality.

Wang Zhonglin also said that although a single nano generator has been developed, its power is limited after all. If it is really put into use in the future, there will be a large number of nano-generators working together to form a generator set. Therefore, the next step of the research team is to find a way to develop a device for joint power generation of multiple nano-generators.
