What are the accelerated review systems?

At present, the accelerated review system mainly includes two types: one is the priority review system; One is the Patent Examination Expressway (PPH).

According to the Administrative Measures for Priority Examination of Invention Patent Applications, important patent applications in the fields of energy conservation and environmental protection, next-generation information technology, biology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, new energy vehicles and low-carbon technologies can apply for priority examination.

It takes about 1 year to issue the first notice of review opinions within 30 days from the date of priority approval, which is much shorter than that of ordinary review. The response period of this institution will be changed from four months at most to two months, and the total review time will be strictly controlled within 1 year, which can save at least 1 year compared with ordinary cases. In the actual operation process, special attention should be paid to giving priority to the case being converted into an ordinary case, so as to avoid "all previous efforts are wasted".

For PPH, when the accepting office of the first application determines that at least one claim in the application can be authorized, the applicant can use this conclusion to make a request to speed up the review in the accepting office of other subsequent applications, and the examiner can use it as an important reference to speed up the case processing, thus saving the processing time of the patent application in the current accepting office.
