Another obvious difference between the star coupling and the quincunx coupling is that there are four claws in the middle of the star coupling and three claws in the middle of the quincunx coupling. Under the same model, the torque that the star coupling can bear is larger than that of the quincunx coupling, so the star coupling can be made smaller.
