The listing of 1899 marks the birth of chemically synthesized drugs.

This is a list of salicylic acid compounds.

In order to find out what the molecules in willow bark do, people have been working hard for it. Until 1828, French pharmacist Henri Leroux and Italian chemist Raffaele Piria successfully separated and purified salicin from willow bark. Because of its sour taste, people usually call it salicylic acid, which has solved the Millennium mystery.

At this point, it can be said that aspirin has officially entered the stage. In 1838, Raffaele Piria extracted a more effective compound from the crystal and named it salicylic acid.

1897, German chemist Hoffman reacted salicylic acid with acetic anhydride to synthesize acetylsalicylic acid. 1On March 6th, 899, the patent application for aspirin was approved, and the clinical trial of 1899 was successful. Bayer Pharmaceuticals in Germany officially produced this drug under the trade names of aspirin and aspirin.
