In terms of electronic information industry, Guangdong province has obvious advantages in the whole country, and its output value ranks first in the country for eleven consecutive years. According to the deputy director of the Information Industry Department of Guangdong Province, the number of patent applications in Guangdong Province has ranked first in the country for seven consecutive years, but the ability of the information industry to use intellectual property strategy is not optimistic. Most enterprises' awareness of intellectual property rights is still very weak, and they don't realize the importance of intellectual property work.

At this meeting, the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Information Industry also announced the patent applications of the top 100 enterprises in the information industry in 2002. According to the number of patents, the top three are Haier Group, Shenzhen Huawei and Changhong Group. Compared with 200 1 year, the number of enterprises that entered the top 100 and owned patents increased from 44 last year to 65. Judging from the ranking of the number of patents, the number of patents is basically proportional to the R&D investment of enterprises. According to analysis, the patents owned by enterprises at present are mainly applied in the past three to five years, which shows that the awareness of patent protection of enterprises has improved in recent years.

Zhao Xinhua, a senior engineer of China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization, and other experts pointed out that although IT enterprises in China are at a disadvantage compared with developed countries in mastering core technologies, they should still strive to participate in the formulation of international and domestic technical standards and strive for future development space. He appealed that in the field of mobile communication, the 3G standard proposed by China has been adopted by ITU, and in the field of digital TV, the China government has decided to formulate its own standard, and universities and scientific research institutions have also put forward several schemes, and enterprises should also actively participate.

Wei Xin, chairman of Peking University Founder Group, a well-known domestic enterprise, said that there is a popular saying in IT circles that third-rate enterprises sell strength, second-rate enterprises sell products, first-class enterprises sell technology, and super-first-class enterprises sell standards. In the field of communication technology, China enterprises should take intellectual property rights as a weapon, become industry standards through the strong support of the government, and then occupy the market by implementing the standards.
