The void is so vast that my heart flies leisurely to Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee beans. The Ethiopian people initially regarded coffee beans as fruit, which looks like a red cherry and has fruit properties. This is why single-origin beans can have a fruity flavor.
Ethiopia is the home of Arabica coffee. It is in the forests of the Kaffa region in Ethiopia that you can see wild Arabica coffee. In Ethiopian, coffee is called "Bun" or "Buna", and coffee beans (coffeebean) may be translated from "Kaffa Bun". Arabica coffee was discovered early in the Harar region, probably from the Kaffa Forest.
In Ethiopia, coffee production is not only the labor of most people, but also an important source of income, and the coffee crop has also been integrated into the country's culture and economy. In order to strengthen the promotion of the uniqueness of coffee in the country, the Ethiopian government applied for patents for three production area names in 2004, and Sidamo is one of them.
Sidamo’s beans are popular for their rich aroma and fruity flavor. And this production area also has the highest altitude coffee in Ethiopia (1400-2200M).
What we are promoting today are Sidamo’s beans, which are fully sun-dried.
In the solarization process, farmers place the coffee berries on a flat surface and dry them in the sun. This process usually takes two to six weeks, and the fruit is then tilted and rotated so that it dries evenly. After the seeds are dry, remove them from the fruit. Good quality sun-dried coffee will have a clean citrus aroma and floral refreshment, with added sweetness and body.
This bean is grown at an altitude of 1,900-2,000 meters. The variety is Ethiopian Heirloom, a native Ethiopian species, and is lightly roasted.
