Unfriendly countries cancel patent fees

According to the news of foreign media in July 10, Malaysia officially chose Ericsson as a 5G partner, which is a sad and incomprehensible news. Malaysia has always had a good relationship with China, and the former Prime Minister also praised Huawei. In the 5G cooperation project, he always hinted that he would use Huawei, but suddenly he gave Ericsson a project with a total price of 2.65 billion US dollars (1.7 1 billion RMB), which was hard to understand. What made Malaysia, which leans towards Huawei, suddenly change its mind? What's behind this? Is there any secret?

Earlier, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir publicly supported Huawei, saying that the United States and the United States must know that they will not always be the leading technological powers, and accept that eastern countries also have the ability to do research and development. Huawei's R&D capability has far surpassed that of Malaysia, and there will be more cooperation with Huawei in the future. When asked about data security, he responded that Huawei has no reason to monitor Malaysia, because we are like an open book with no secrets to hide.

It can be clearly seen from Prime Minister Mahathir's statement that Malaysia highly recognizes Huawei's 5G technology, and also acknowledges that Malaysia's overall R&D capability may not be comparable to Huawei, which is the most important reason why Malaysia prefers Huawei. Huawei's global 5G equipment market has the highest shipments, and the number of 5G base stations has also crushed its peers. With thousands of 5G technology patents as the industry leader, it is expected to be favored by Malaysia.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Mahathir paid no attention to the fact that the United States fabricated Huawei 5G to affect information security. First of all, even in Europe, where the opposition to the use of Huawei's 5G equipment is the highest, some countries have expressed their willingness to stand with Huawei and actively use Huawei's 5G products, which shows that Huawei's 5G technology is safe and does not involve any surveillance and monitoring.

In addition, as good neighbors of China, Malaysia and China have maintained close cooperation for a long time, and their views on many issues have always been the same. We have always held a very trusting attitude towards our neighbors and will never do anything like listening. In recent years, it has been frequently exposed that the wiretaps are Americans and the thieves are Americans.

Mahathir also made an interesting remark. He said that the United States should also accept that we in the East are equally capable of doing research. This shows that he very much recognizes our scientific research work and supports the eastern countries in the field of consciousness against the hegemonic monopoly of western countries.

In fact, Huawei cooperated with Malaysia Mingxun as early as 20 19. Mingxun not only hopes that Huawei can help it transform its LTE network to adapt to Huawei's 5G equipment, but also arranges a team of experts to go to Malaysia to provide technical support such as training, operation and maintenance for Mingxun.

Therefore, when bidding for the 5G project in Malaysia, the outside world felt that it was a natural thing to choose Huawei, but the result was beyond our expectation. Why did Malaysia suddenly abandon Huawei and sign a contract with Ericsson? We can only find some answers from clues.

There is absolutely no problem with technology and equipment. Not only has it been approved by the Malaysian Prime Minister, but the two sides have already had in-depth cooperation as early as 20 19. At the same time, the information security problem fabricated by Britain and the United States is sheer nonsense in Malaysia. In the case that there is no problem with technical equipment and information security, it can only be analyzed from the price aspect.

It is reported that Huawei bid 23.29 billion to Malaysia and Ericsson bid 65.438+0.7 billion. The price difference between the two sides is more than 6 billion yuan, which may be one of the reasons why Malaysia did not choose Huawei. After all, there have been cases in Malaysia where cooperative projects have stalled due to price issues.

Although Malaysia is equally friendly to Huawei and even China, it may not give special consideration to China enterprises strategically. Besides, Malaysia itself is not a particularly rich country. It is difficult to guarantee that it will not hesitate to choose a prime minister who cares more about its own economy. Finally, it is understandable to turn to Ericsson, which is "good quality and low price".

Moreover, Malaysia has also held a Malay dignity conference before, which, as the name implies, is to improve the overall dignity of Malays. In the meeting resolution announced by the General Assembly, the economic aspect requires that the rights and interests of Malays must be guaranteed first, and the government should first consider allowing Malays to participate in high-tech projects. It can be seen that Malaysia may be changing its policy, and China enterprises may be required to make more concessions in future cooperation with Malaysia, which is also closely related to Huawei's failure to be selected this time.

Originally normal mobile communication projects should be handed over to domestic operators. However, due to Malaysia's desire to focus on the use of 5G networks, an organization dedicated to building 5G networks was recently established, named "Malaysia National Digital Limited". In this way, Huawei has no advantage in bidding. As a supplier of mobile network communication equipment, Huawei has the most contact with operators, and even operators can directly decide to let Huawei do this project. However, the newly established bidding unit is more concerned about the price issue.

Relevant departments in Malaysia have handed over the set 5G spectrum directly to the national digital company, which makes it easier to cooperate with communication equipment vendors, hoping to reduce costs in this way. In addition, it is worth mentioning that this national digital company is led by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance, which can be understood as the direct choice of cooperative enterprises by the Ministry of Finance. Huawei, which originally had a good relationship with operators, would never have thought that Malaysia would have such a skill.

After all, Malaysia is a small country. It wants to survive in the cracks, but it can't refuse the United States. It can only please both sides. However, it may be a helpless move to give up Huawei in the face of external pressure.

In addition, in 20 14, Malaysia has upgraded its bilateral relations with the United States to a comprehensive partnership and further cooperated in economy, security and science and technology. On the one hand, the United States can threaten Malaysia through the trade deficit, on the other hand, it can also win over Malaysia in science and technology economy. Under the coercion and inducement, Malaysia simply refused. I believe this is understandable at home. In addition, there is another reason to worry that the United States will impose heavier sanctions on Huawei, which will affect the subsequent equipment supply and maintenance.

Although Malaysia chose Ericsson this time, it is uncertain whether things will turn around. According to past experience, Ericsson will "enclosure" at a low price, and then increase the price from each project when it is actually under construction. This is also an old operation. Therefore, there is reason to believe that once the project leads to a bad end, Huawei will be found to remedy it.

According to previous data, Huawei accounts for 1 1.4% of the global patents on 5G technology, and Ericsson accounts for 10.3%. As long as it involves projects in the 5G field, Huawei cannot be bypassed, which means that patent fees must be paid to Huawei. These patent fees alone are not a small income, and Hayes, a subsidiary of Huawei, also holds 7.2% of 5G patents.

Although Huawei has frequently lost in Europe, it does not mean that the whole of Europe is rejecting Huawei's 5G equipment, such as Monaco, Spain, Austria and Italy. Even Monaco has completed Huawei's 5G cooperation and played an active role in Europe, which proves that despite repeated obstruction by the United States, not all countries will refuse in the face of leading technology and relatively cost-effective prices, and more and more countries can bravely stand up and say no to the United States.

Although in Europe and even Southeast Asia, Huawei's cooperation progress is not very smooth, but in Africa, Huawei can be said to be "killing the Quartet". At the end of last month, orange, a French telecommunications company, said that although it could not reach cooperation with Huawei due to the requirements of the United States in France, it looked forward to in-depth cooperation with Huawei in the African market.

Last year, Rain, a South African operator, completed its cooperation with Huawei, which is also the first operator in Africa to use commercial 5G network communication. 70% of the backbone network in Africa is built by Huawei, and more than 40 countries in 54 countries in Africa have different degrees of cooperation with Huawei. It can be seen that although the European battlefield is difficult to open, Huawei's cooperation foundation in Africa is very deep, and the African market is far from the best state, which requires a lot of network construction. If Huawei works hard in Africa, the market with great potential in Africa will bring Huawei the same return.

African countries have always been in close contact with our country, and have thoroughly seen through the essence of America in the process of development, so Africa is not controlled by America, and Huawei can develop freely in the African market. Not only is China the largest construction country in Africa, but Huawei also has large-scale construction projects in Africa. If Africa continues to cooperate with Huawei, these completed equipment will save Africa billions of RMB.

Therefore, as long as Huawei regards Africa as a "pilot" market, once it makes achievements, I believe other countries in the world will definitely see it. Huawei's technology itself is leading, and its success in Africa is bound to win the favor of more countries. At present, it is very difficult to enter the European market. Huawei no longer needs to pay attention to Europe. Although Southeast Asian countries have some ties with the United States, they have increasingly turned to China in recent years. Although Malaysia has not won, other countries can still fight for it.

Ericsson is playing tricks on price, and Huawei can also bundle infrastructure through China's infrastructure capacity. Huawei is not only the leader of 5G technology, but also in many other communication fields, such as submarine cable and optical communication. You can also bind these projects to 5G communication, and package them at reduced prices to other countries for construction. Although the cost of Huawei has increased, the opportunity to enter the markets of various countries has increased.

It is difficult for Huawei to get out of the current predicament. Although it can blossom more in various technical fields, it is still inadequate in the face of the suppression of powerful countries. We can only hope that the country will become stronger, create a better external environment for Chinese enterprises and escort their overseas development. Of course, while the iron is hot, you need to be hard. Now the United States is only a science and technology sanction. In the face of China's growing strength, we dare not make threats at will. Enterprises in our country still have to master more core technologies like Huawei, and speak with strength and technology in order to be more emboldened against the United States.

Although Malaysia has not reached the cooperation with Huawei as we hoped, we must also see that Malaysia has not consciously resisted Huawei. Because Huawei is a company after all, it is inevitable to operate under the relevant framework rules, and it is really helpless for Malaysia to revise its investment rules. However, Malaysia did not target Huawei, but was restricted by the country itself, which led to this time. Huawei missed it.

Seeing many netizens criticizing Malaysia on the Internet, I still hope everyone can be rational. Huawei is an iconic private enterprise in our country, and each of us hopes that Huawei can break through the current predicament. However, while supporting Huawei, we should also give Huawei a better public opinion environment, and don't let our love for Huawei become a reason for others to discredit Huawei. Supporting Huawei does not necessarily mean belittling other enterprises or countries.
