Lithium-based grease is made of natural fatty acid (stearic acid or 12- hydroxystearic acid) lithium soap, mineral lubricating oil with medium viscosity or synthetic lubricating oil, and synthetic lithium-based grease is made of synthetic fatty acid lithium soap and mineral lubricating oil with medium viscosity.
Calcium-based grease is a mineral lubricating oil with medium viscosity thickened by calcium soap made of animal and vegetable oil (synthetic fatty acid is used to synthesize calcium-based grease) and lime, and water is used as colloidal solvent.
2. Different applications
Calcium-based grease is mainly used for lubrication of rolling bearings of various industrial and agricultural machinery such as automobiles, tractors, water pumps, small and medium-sized motors, and parts that are easy to contact with water or moisture. Because calcium-based grease is mainly used to compress cups, it is also called "cup grease".
Lithium-based grease is suitable for lubrication of bearings, conveying roller bearings, gears and other friction parts of continuous rolling mills and forging presses in metallurgical industry. Mechanical equipment under high-intensity load and relatively high temperature conditions, lubrication of bearings and gears of high-load mechanical equipment in industrial and mining enterprises, and friction parts of heavy vehicles.
3. Different characteristics
Calcium-based grease has good water resistance, is not easy to emulsify and deteriorate when it meets water, and can be used in humid environment or places in contact with water.
Lithium-based grease, especially the grease thickened with 12- hydroxystearate, has only two intersecting temperatures. The first crossing temperature (i.e. from pseudo-gel state to gel state) is generally above 170℃, and the second phase transition temperature (i.e. from gel state to sol state) is generally above 200℃. Therefore, choosing the right mineral oil can be used for a long time.
