The counselors at Xiangtan University are well treated. Xiangtan University, referred to as Xiang University, is a comprehensive national key university personally initiated by Chairman Mao. The university is a university supported by the Ministry of Education and Hunan Province in the construction of high-level universities and characteristic disciplines, and a university in the construction of domestic first-class universities in Hunan Province (Category A). Selected into the National 111 Plan, the first batch of National Applied Mathematics Centers, the first batch of National Intellectual Property Information Service Centers in universities, national new engineering research and practice projects, the first batch of provincial and ministerial collaborative innovation centers, the first batch of national patent collaborative application pilot units, Excellent Legal Talent Education and Training Plan, National Red Tourism Innovation and Development Research Base, Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities, the first batch of national demonstration universities to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, National College Student Innovative Experimental Plan, National Construction of High-level University Publicly-sponsored Graduate Program, Universities receiving Chinese government scholarships for international students in China, etc. The school was founded in 1958. On September 10 of the same year, Chairman Mao personally inscribed the name of Xiangtan University. It was closed in 1959 for some reason. In 1974, the State Council approved the resumption of the school and positioned it as a comprehensive university of liberal arts, science, and engineering. In 1978, the State Council approved it as a comprehensive national key university. In 1981, the school became the first batch of master's degree authorization units in the country.
