Results Professor Jia has not only achieved fruitful results in basic research, but also attached great importance to the transformation of innovative achievements into productive forces, and more than ten achievements have been applied to production. He presided over the project of "Technical Development of Powder Styrene-Butadiene Rubber", developed a unique production technology of powder Styrene-Butadiene Rubber, obtained three patents in China, and passed the technical appraisal organized by sinopec group. Experts believe that this project is the first at home and abroad, and its research level is in the leading position in the world. The technology was transferred to Lanzhou Chemical Company and Qilu Petrochemical Company, and remarkable economic benefits were achieved. In 1980s, Professor Jia cooperated with Guangzhou Xinhua Ball Factory to develop a new type of intermediate layer material of leather volleyball, which made the leather volleyball produced by this factory win the Excellent New Product Award of the Ministry of Light Industry and the first place in the national quality appraisal. Products are exported to home and abroad and are very popular. This technology is further extended to basketball, football and other match balls, which has become a successful technological innovation of ball technology in China. The modified polyurethane waterproof material developed by Professor Jia in 1990s has been successfully produced and applied to many high-rise buildings for many years, and has achieved remarkable economic and social benefits.
In addition, Professor Jia Demin has made a series of advanced achievements at home and abroad in polymer/inorganic nanocomposites, liquid rubber, new immobilized carrier photocrosslinking resin, rigid PVC profiles, aluminum-plastic composite pipes, high-performance fiber reinforced composites, rubber powder modification and utilization. 1999 Professor Jia Demin was jointly commended by the Rubber Professional Committee of China Chemical Industry Society and china rubber Association as "an expert who has made outstanding contributions to the cause of china rubber". At present, Professor Jia Demin is leading a group of young and middle-aged teachers and graduate students to make new explorations in the research fields of polymer/inorganic nanocomposites, high-performance rubber and tires, polyolefin grafting and modification, flame retardant plastics, hyperbranched polymers and so on.
